Most columns are there to stir something up. I must admit I can't stand reading them as one persons opinion is hardly important to me.

My family once had a very bad experience with his predecessor the late Lynda Lee-Potter (it was over the death of a cousin of mine) the article she wrote was pretty disgusting and very hurtful, I don' remember much detail as I was very young at the time.

I have never taken much notice of any newspaper for years now, they are pretty much irrelevant to me, I get all I need and more on line, and I am much better informed for it
