Sarah Everard murder | Wayne Couzens given whole-life sentence

It's the journey the poor woman had to endure as well sat in a car with that monster. From Camden to Kent a good 60-90 minutes at least. His guilty plea means nothing there was shit loads of evidence to convict the scum. The entrance exam for the old bill must be bang average if that moron passed it. He also was a firearms officer, the mind boggles
The point I was making wasn’t in relation to Couzens but rather future defendants who should be encouraged to plead guilty if they are so.

Having now read the sentencing remarks in their entirety, then I am persuaded that notwithstanding the guilty plea, a whole life term was appropriate, because this was such egregious offending, but my point remains about people getting credit for guilty pleas. I doubt there‘s a judicial system in the civilised world that doesn’t take account of this, even for the very worst crimes.

I suspect that, as a serving police officer, he knew that the crime would attract a whole life tariff and knew that the evidence of his guilt was overwhelming. Pleading guilty was just a cynical attempt to get 30 years instead of whole life imo. Thankfully he failed.
There no way he was ever going to get 30 years, mate. Not a fucking chance.

No kaz, did people stop going to see a gp after Shipman? Or stop going to hospital especially with a baby after the nurse Beverkey Allitt murdered 6 children ?
There was also the nurse in Stockport murdering patients plus several others recently.
The answer is no, why some on here are now over reacting by saying it is now not safe to stop when a policeman tells you I don't know.
It was one police officer, it is horrific and I hope he dies a slow death in jail but the over reaction is crazy
You saying I shouldn't think all musicians are nonces?

I guess the severity of the crime along with mistrust of power made any other sentence impossible.

If, say, Huntley had pled guilty, would his sentence have been reduced?

A thread about a monster and his horrific crime has,for the usual suspects, become an opportunity to hate on the Police......99.9% of whom are incredible people,but,hey......lets not let that fact get in the way of a good berating- Pathetic.

As for the **** himself, hopefully proper justice is quickly served.

Whilst I agree with rehabilitation for most offenders, the crimes of some are so heinous that punishment is the only thing that their sentences should be about. He falls squarely into that category.
it's not punishment if he doesn't have to exist for as long as humanly possible. It's a mercy killing. All it is is vengeance, which is a different matter altogether.

It'd be interesting to have a separate thread where people can tell their stories about their police interactions.. I couldn't post in it though
