S.O.S.
Lots of talk about The Big Picture, but why reinvent the wheel for the benefit of just a few?
TV revenues should be shared equally, and I don’t even understand why this is an issue.
In addition, the PL & FA have all player contracts available to them. How about fines for Yellow cards and Red cards, and setting ANY fines based on 1 days wages, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, etc., instead of these £ specific fines for PL and Championship players? Simply lay out the objective framework for each penalty, with each subsequent offence moving the penalty up a category.
Then, set a maximum amount that goes to the League (say £5,000) with 20% of the rest going to different charities designated annually by the PFA (no charity can stay on for more than one season at a time) and the other 80% going to a Football Fund called the Alliance for Internal Development (AID) Say, 40% to L1, 35% to L2, and 25% to Non League, once a Salary Cap, and some rational regional streamlining of the lower leagues has taken place, has been established for these leagues.
Same as above for the League 1 & 2 teams, but with their fines going to grass roots football.
Also, require a 2% “Heritage” tax on total club revenues in PL (with monies to be allowed to count for FFP, of course) to seed the AID program for these same things.
THOUGHTS?
There has to be a way to protect football in Britain, esp given the stupid money sloshing around!
