A couple of years ago i got my first android phone. A froyo iirc. Anyway, gifs wouldn't stream on it but, if i saved the image they would. Over time ive updated the os on that same phone and they wouldn't play when saved. Anyway, fast forward to now and ive got a windows phone i have the opposite dilemma to my original one. GIFs stream on a webpage but if i save them they just display as a static image. Do any of you know why?

Not too sure about the current windows phones, although It could be that your picture viewer on the phone only displays static images. As animated gifs contain a number of images it could be that they will only show correctly when viewed via a browser or alternative viewer.

Edit: Also, although it may be showing as static on the phone - it may well animate once it is sent to another phone/browser. Send one to a mate and see.
