Savic looks like a player we would have bought pre Abu Dhabi

Kompany, King, Sol Campbell, Nesta, Cannavaro, Rio all were great at 21 or showed some true class. Savic look scared off what he has to do next before he has done the thing before that
Well mancini likes him,so is he wrong?
He could be, no manager is immune to buying a dud at some point.
That's true.
But he does keep throwing him in for big matches in front of other more experienced centre backs.
Big season for him coming up if we don't get any more defensive cover.

Baconface bought Bebe.

I was not one of the bandwagon booers last season regarding Savic. He even had a fairly decent pre-season.

I actually fully expected him to take the leap into the first team as part of a back three against Chelsea... and how wrong I was.

I can see why no one rates him. Even Mancini was bollocking him throughout the first half! He was done a favour by being subbed... and that's always a bad sign for a player.

Whether it's confidence or ability, he needs time away from City to take stock. But we genuinely can't afford to take a chance on him in big games.

Just how many really top class defenders are Savics age?

It usually takes longer for defenders to mature as they need the experience to learn positioning etc.

A prime example is Joleon, who has improved beyond what most ever thought possible because he was getting the benefit of experience and know how.

I didnt say that there werent any, i was infering that it is rare.

Nothing to do with being young he will only ever be average. I wonder what went wrong with our research and also why we persever with him. Is Bob trying to prove a point as he certainly has an eye for a good player.

Sometimes I wonder what the other players must think. I'm sure I'm not the only fan who's heart misses a beat when he's on the pitch. A Liverpool mate of mine said, before we played them in the cup, our only hope is that you play that Savic. We did and he was right!

I think him getting picked in front of Kolo is why he goes nuts at Bob.

Whats going on there?
Haha your right, I've tried not to be to harsh on the guy , but he's definitely a mid 90's city player.

-- Tue Aug 14, 2012 6:13 pm --

Yes but bob plays savic
How many has bebe started?

Well, playing devil's advocate, could it be that Bacon has realised his mistake and moved on while Bob won't? Kolo shouldd not be behaving as he did on Sunday but I bet Savic being picked in front of him had something to do with it. I don't get the sense that the other players trust Savic yet.

I honestly think if we push the lad out to RB he is a more solid defender but i think he wouldnt get much chance to get past Micah and our PabZab but he might get some quality cap one cup time.

I thought I saw real ability when he first joined. He looked good in the air and a nice ball player. But in that spell last winter when we were short on defenders he made some bad mistakes although he had decent games otherwise. He was the same on Sunday, showing poor control and mistiming tackles. I still harbour a hope that it's a confidence/nerves thing, but the hope is receding.

The gap between our first choice centre halves and second choice looked huge last year. It's this season or never for Robbie.

This,he will cost us dear if he plays.I have watched some shit over the years and never booed a player and wont start now but some need to face reality,he is shite.
