Saying goodbye to your best friend

Sorry to hear it @blueinsa
We were given the same choice last October. We were told we had a fortnight’s steroids for our Boey, our beloved Labrador and would have to come to terms with with the loss and choose a date for him to go to sleep.
In the end he only lasted a night and died at home.

We were all devastated but took solace thot we didn’t have to make that decision in the end.

People who have dogs understand your pain. It is like losing a family member.

I feel your pain.

We recently lost our Huskey after 14 years through cancer, it was heartbreaking to see her struggle and when the time came my family were devastated.

Time is a great healer that's the only consolation.

I suppose I'm being selfish in a way by not wanting any more dogs because I just can't keep putting myself through the heartbreak when they die, selfish because I know I can give another dog a wonderful home and a fantastic life but I'm putting my own feelings first.
You're not being selfish mate, only reason I get them now is for the kids, my heart's broken over them.

So sorry for your loss Blue. I lost my dog and cat in my divorce and not seen either for about a year now. Absolutely kills me knowing I’ll never see Ted (the whippet) and some other fucker is his dad now. My sympathies to you and your family.

Sorry to hear this @blueinsa, there aren’t much more horrible things to go through. All you can do IMO is be happy that you have her a wonderful life, and that you’re holding up your side of thr relationship and making sure she doesn’t suffer needlessly. Sending thoughts

I've had 8 dogs, first I ever had was a wolfhound cross, he was called Tiny, tried to kill my mam so he got put down, he was 7. Then I had a collie cross that lived to 20, a purebred springer that lived to 16 and 2 boxers that lived to 12 and 9 along with a boxer/pitbull cross that chocked on a tennis ball at 2 years old. I loved every one of them.

Sorry to read this blue. Gorgeous dog that I'm sure would have loved her life and brightened yours too.

It's a horrible time when a much loved pet goes, especially suddenly but like I said I'm sure she loved her life which could be of comfort.
