Scariest away day following City

Ha ha yes! Cheap drinks too, used to get those tickets at the weekend got you in free in the week. I think Kloisters and another club were part of the same group. Jack was the manager, small late fifties, grey hair and a pinstripe suit.
Cheap drinks, true , snakebites were nearly the undoing of me , would fight anyone with them inside me . Was courting my present Mrs at the time , i wouldn’t go midweek because of my job ...early start but she would see me then instead of going home she’d go to Genies on them free tickets dancing all night ...till I found out .
Didn’t stop her though , still won’t do as she’s told now lol.

Yeah Kloisters was part of the group that owned Genieves..
Went in Genieves a few times but went in Kloisters most Saturdays..shite watered down beer in plastic glasses ( think it was because a few people got glassed when they had proper glass ones)
Coming out of Kloisters it often kicked off with those coming out of Rotters ( usually groups from out of Manchester )
Good old days ..oh to be young again lol

I was at sea and had mates the same and a couple in the Para's. Because of that we could drink in the week as we didn't have to be up for work in the morning as we were on leave. Often we had an all day bender and ended up there.

It did mate , Oxford st was a war zone every weekend , everyone spilled out from Kloisters , Henry’s across the Rd , another one where you went up steep steps to get to it , can’t remenber the name . Then further down you had the rock club ...was it Jilly’s ?? Then Rotters , hundreds of fuelled up lads onto the streets at the same time.
Me & a pal we’re scrapping on a coach on that rd & ended up in Fucking Blackburn ....long story lol.

I remember coming out of Kloisters and walking past Rotters and some lads from Bolton were singing about Frankie Worthington..we changed the words to wankie Worthington and it went off big time.
Used to go to the chippie on Oxford road and it often kicked off in there too.
We were young and crazy but it was fun eh.
Manchester was a great place to grow up in and to go out in.

There was once a pitched battle on Oxford road the night of a derby game, the police sealed it off at both ends to contain it.

I went to the late night pictures (Studio 1-5) one Friday night in my dads almost new S - reg Ford Granada. Came out of the pics, got in Dads car and started to drive up Oxford Road. As I approached Rotters/ Fagins etc, there was a pitched battle going on all across the street, with both sides launching pint pots and bottles at each other.
I was absolutely shitting it that a least one and possibly more windows on Dads new car would be smashed and there would be hell to pay. Traffic was at a standstill because of all the trouble.
Eventually the police moved all the crowds on,the traffic started moving and I breathed a huge sigh of relief and managed to get the car home to Middleton unscathed.
