I see the sentencing council is going to bring racial origin into sentencing guidelines.

I thought justice was supposed to be blind?

Indeed, every single high court in the land has a statue of Lady Justice wearing a blindfold inside or on the roof. Often both.

To be fair Keir a bit cross and is promising emergency legislation to stop such rules being brought in. But he shouldn't have had too.

It's a total disgrace and the sentencing guidelines council has proven itself not to be fit for purpose.

Another own own that Reform will greatfully accept and run with.

(Shakes head with despair)

Not going to happen ...we already have legislation in place that allows the UK to deport any immigrant convicted of an offence punishable by 12 months or more in prison.

This just feeds into the narrative that there IS two tier justice which quite clearly permeates as deep as the judiciary. That’s a place where we never thought such a thing could permeate given the nature of equality of law.

Let’s not pretend that Starmer is angry about it. He’s only angry because he’s polling no better than a party which has just 4 MP’s, only a few points better than the most hated government in decades, he’s well on his way to matching them.

In a more normal world, I’d argue Starmer should be fighting on behalf of the sentencing council and why they’re putting in what they are, but the narrative has already been set and it’s a political issue now so they’ll end up legislating against it.

5 years for any woman still wearing Youth Dew
I say...
Feel cheated, thought it was another perfume thread. Youth Dew was a potent concoction built and designed in 1953 to offset odious odours from ladies of a mature stature, with a dab behind the ear lasting the full fortnight.
