School kids protest climate change

My point is the young people in the country, with their gadgets and addiction to modern day living are in no position to lecture anyone, until they change their own way of life

The younglings should instead get used already to living in medieval conditions, the should only be allowed to protest when dressed in rags and bound toghether into chain gans full of ill children that need be pushed, shoved and carried by the others while they whale in misery and agony for the bloody blisters and fester wounds on their feet from the 40 mile walk to their relevant destination. At the front a Nun afcoourse this time on a horse but still with hat bell. Shame! dingdingding Shame! dingdingding Shame!

All the while their parents shall afcourse be still be critical for otherwise not having any oppinion or news of note to share anyway in their miserable crypto enslaved lives. The Smartest of them will note that some of the kids still have rather flashy hairdo's, and here and there even a crude drawing made from non excrement based sollutions to aid their protest

Apparently it's fine for politicians and corporations to contaminate the water supply and melt the polar ice caps, but whatever you do don't overfill your kettle or leave a light on in a room you're not in, you've no right to complain or protest if you do

Yep they should put down their electronic devices and go play in the local park, or play wallie or british bulldog in the street that will save the planet

Saying that our local park used to be staffed and the lights replaced when broke so it was a pretty safe enviroment after it got darker so our parents were pretty unworried about potential threats and my street wasn't constanly full of cars going through when I was a kid like now making street games pretty much impossible, and times have changed, people are living in a technological age.

Also I would say you are dismissing that the younger generation here will not be more savvy than us on disposing and recycling E-waste.

Plastic production, over farming of cattle, clearing forest land for said over farming.
Everyones insiatance on using a car rather than their legs, cycling or public transport

These have a bigger impact than children on their smart phone, which tbf everyone does now, so cannot really blame tge kids solely for this.

At least these kids give a shite, and if this will to change the world persists, then just maybe they can.

They will all be sat at home now after ringing mum and dad to come fetch them in the 4x4 because they are too tired to walk, burping away in the McDonalds they demanded on the way home and with every light on in the house as they play the PS4 all night whilst using the latest tech to tell all their mates just how right on they all are.

Sarcastic maybe but the truth is, asked to give up everything they really do hold dear in life to save the planet and the majority will tell you to fuck off.

Most saw an opportunity to bunk off school for the day imo.

/thread.

At least these kids give a shite,

I don't think many people don't give a shite tbf.

The advantage the kids have is that they are not responsible for themselves, don't have to spend hours in a car every day, driving to a job to work every hour they can, to keep the mortgage paid, the wife happy and their own kids warm, watered and Smartphoned up.

When they do grow up, they likely end up just being happy to go to sleep at night with the above issues under control, just like the rest of us adults.

Are we seriously arguing that kids(anyone) protesting about climate change is a bad thing?

No not at all but as usual on here, any voice not quite on message is met with accusations rather than actually reading and understanding the point they made.

They have every right to protest and every right to be heard and i support their message.

I only ask that they understand that their generation, hungry for tech, mobile phones, ipads, computers, games consoles and whatever is coming next are feeding an industry that by 2040 will account for the biggest carbon footprint due to the manufacturing processes involved in the very gadgets they crave.

Are they so moved by the plight of the planet and environment that they are willing to give them up? Will they ditch car use for the sake of the planet? Will fast food become a thing of the past as they simply refuse to buy it?

Genuine questions?

I will also add that most Western countries do see the issues and are on a course to try and put wrongs right and the real issue we face is convincing the developing countries, the China's of the world that they have to stop polluting the way they are or anything we do here is frankly pointless and pissing in the wind.

That is easy. Stop buying stuff made in China and buy it from 1st world countries who have enviromental, heath and work standards.

I wonder if the next generation will be happy to pay double/triple €$£ for their cars/phones/electronics.......
