Swansea have released the fee so I don't see us getting him for less than £7-8m, the best result on City's part would be either to buy a better player(please) or get him for £6.5m as a compromise.

take it or leave it final offer now

can't be bent over the barrel by the likes of swansea

and if they leave it then fair enough but fuck them when they come knocking in future

I wonder if Marwood will get the blame for the coming hurricanes .

Ultimately, this transfer window has not gone how anyone expected.

As i said in another thread, I cannot believe this owners would suddenly become super prudent after winning the league by a whisker and exiting at the group stages of the champions league.

Ultimately, someone will be to blame. It might be Marwood, it might not be. But I really don't think the owners would suddenly change their approach from players like Aguero, to Rodwell and Sinclair.

As it happens, I like Rodwell and Sinclair, but I also expected a starter who would instantly improve the team.

They did say a couple of years ago that the spending wouldn't carry on. I think money is still there to spend but we don't need signing as urgently as before.

Still think we'll get a couple of good ones in before Friday anyway.

Yeah, they did. i never expected a huge influx this summer. But just surprised we haven't brought someone in to really help us build on last seasons success.

As you say, couple of days left though.

Personal view - I'd walk away - a) I'm not reall convinced - but if he does sign i'll get behind him and hope he does well, b) Swansea (and others) need a message from us not to mess us about - this stinks of a club taking the piss c) if we really want him - pick him up next summer for nothing - the £5m fee added to his wages over 3 years will be attractive.

I know he's nothing special or anything but still, it hurts to miss out on him. A player like De Rossi I can accept us missing out on but if we can't even sign a fucking Swansea winger then who are we going to sign?

I woke up this morning to stories from the Swansea chairman slagging us off for the way we handled the transfer. Are you now shocked that we've walked away?

He may have been able to screw £15m out of Liverpool for Joe Allen, but he's dealing with the big-boys now. If the MULTI-BILLIONAIRES Mansour & Khaldoon are happy with Marwood, then I'll back their judgement rather than the tantrum-throwing fuckwits on here - its not FIFA or Football Manager.

So Swansea try to screw us on the fee and we walk away - so what? We have 3 days to sign someone else, and if not I'm not really bothered. Now put yourself in Swansea's shoes - you've got a unhappy player till January at least and a bank account with £6.2m less than you thought it would have. And how much will he be worth in January with six months left on his contract?

I suggest that the Swansea chairman now wishes he'd kept his gob shut. I think the transfer will still go ahead, but it will be on our terms, not theirs.

Two words... stop flapping

I'm not flapping one bit. I don't expect Marwood to be able to sign anyone therefore I haven't got my hopes up like the rest of you. If he gets his P45 on 1 September when Soriano arrives then the club will be in a far stronger position in my view.

If you didint expect us to sign anyone why are you bothered about the departure of AJ making it harder to sign Sinclair.

And given Khaldoon had publicly praised the work Marwood has done does that mean you question his judgement.

I wouldn't have sold AJ in the first place. I thought he was a useful member of the squad. Must have missed Khaldoon praising Marwood and no, I wouldn't question his judgement but if Mancini says Marwood's job is to bring players then I would expect him to be able to add the 3 we need to make us better than we were last season. He hasn't done this.

I still think the intention is to bring in one two first teamers. Here's hoping.

Marwood does not report to Mancini.

I also agree with this but my question is, has he come out publicly and slagged us off or is this just another story made up by our media friends.

Why on earth did we sell AJ without thinking this through? Complete incompetence.

Two words...Brian Marwood.

Along comes another one, you base that statement on what ?

Based on every transfer window with Cook being successful and this one with Marwood being a total disaster!

We will sign him, almost positive, the chairman has a choice keep an unhappy player for a year and get nothing or accept a 5-6mil bid and sign a player that wants to be there it a no brainer really. Wenger said he had to sale nasri and RVP letting them leave on a free wasnt a choice the same will happen here, if swansea a stubborn and want to keep him for a year its up to them but thats only gonna hurt swansea. To be honest i would have walked away after the chairman started monthing today of course man city is going to try and get the lowest possible fee ever club does, if he values ss above 6mil with a year on his contract with is his value with a five year deal? 25mil?!lol

Why are sky sports reporting that this deal has fallen through? As if its the end of the matter? There are still 3 days of the transfer window left, plenty of negotiating left.

Marwood is just a scrape goat, surely he's working off what higher people are telling him? And now ppl are gutted, because we can't pull this deal off, most of the ppl was 'underwelmed' when the news of Sinclair broke.

The whole Football Manager/FIFA comment is lazy and meaningless, quite frankly. Much of what you have said may be true, but do you accept that if we had not sold AJ on Friday, we would be in a far better position to walk away?

Mancini didn't look to upset exactly an hour and a half ago sat in his usual haunt in Alderley Edge drinking coffee. He was smiling and had 5 people with him. All unrecognisable.

No I don't know who they were but this is 100% true from the lad I sit with at City who was in the same coffee shop.

Fuck the media I say.

Getting a great chuckle at those complaining we shouldn't have sold AJ first. The people complaining are in equal number to those (probably even the same people), who say we put ourselves at a disadvantage selling later because clubs know we need to offload the players and get shit prices for everyone.
