Scottish Independence

Not really, the EU has only existed for 60 years, and is being expanded all the time,so more and more smallish East European nations are getting influence over EU affairs. It is a trading block, not a sovereign state.
The UK has been a Union of 4 independent nations for over 300 years, and has not added any other nations to the Union in that time.
NI only existed since 1922. That's 98 years ago.

In the GE England voted to form a new government which resulted in a Tory landslide.
In Scotland they mainly voted for the SNP.
Guess who formed the majority government for the UNITED KINGDOM ?
Obviously the country that outnumbers the others. Some union of equals. Scottish independence will happen in the next 5 years.

Ireland became part of the uk in 1801. So what is now NI has been part of us for over 200 years.
Beat me to it.
The Act of Union between Scotland and England goes back to 1706-7 though.
I assume this is what the OP was posting about.
I'm pointing out there have been changes since.
Ireland wasn't recognised as a republic until 1949.
So talk of 60 years of EU doesn't seem very relevant to me.

And I haven't a clue what you are on about with this post.
That Johnson with his tory majority decided to change Mays WA and accept what no UK prime minister could ever accept a different settlement fror N.Ireland and therefore border checks in the North sea. Whether the people of N. Ireland like it or not. Yet at the same time deciding Scotland isn't allowed the same different settlement.Different parts of the UK different rules, but rules decided in London.

Yes, some history is relevant to today's political scene and some isn't!

And i thoughy this thread was bumped because of this. And the fact the Scottish parliament passed a motion for another referendum, on material changes, that the snp won the 2016 election on.

That is after all democracy, and the mechanism, and can genuinely be argued as the 'will of the people'. which note is drastically different to arguing the result of the 2019 g.e snp gains/numbers.

Interesting. Big claim that.

I've always been a sceptic and argued, and still do, that i think the chance of it happening is low. But even i wouldnt argue your claim, certainty wouldnt bet against it.

I keep saying, i don't think there has been a significant enough shift towards independence. But there certainly has been a shift. In 5 years time, who can tell. in the ladt 5 years, ive only experienced it shifting in the one direction.
