Season Ticket Renewals - small increases (again)

Gotta day the 1894 statement I’ve seen is disappointing. Sounds like they are trying to justify it.

Not really representing all the fans imo

It’s not quite like that.

I can’t go into details. Sorry.

What was put out was not the view of the vast majority of 1894 members.

Obviously I don’t speak for all of them, but from what I know and have read, the vast majority of 1894 members aren’t happy with the price rises.

Trust me.

Can anyone explain how thousands of SC holders can relocate to cheaper seats, especially families, groups of friends and so on? The last mass exodus was when SS3 opened (I was one who moved) but apart from the odd non-renewal most cheaper seats are taken. I reckon the fact that the North Stand hasn't been expanded yet is because the club knows thousands of people in the most expensive seats would go for much cheaper seats if they get first dibs.

No its not the polar opposite view of most of the fans. Just because it's your view it is not the same for the rest, every single season ticket holder I know is fine with the small increase and teh 1894 Group are talking on behalf of the majority here, as the renewal figures will show.
Don’t mistake being so emotionally invested in your football club, and renewing, as people being fine with the continual season-after-season price rises.

Everyone I know with a seasoncard feels it’s another kick in the teeth after paying out a record amount of money on City this season out of emotionally invested loyalty.

Like it or lump it, we live in a market-driven world; football is no exception. City can charge what they like - and do. They’re not a charity. If people think it’s too much, they won’t pay. If they think it’s worth it, they will. I’d give up many, many things before my season card. Others wouldn’t. Choices. We all have them.

That maybe the case, but City didn’t have to increase season ticket prices again.

Again, I go back to that £1,000,000 figure from another season ticket price rise, give or take, which is going to make no difference.

Are you bothered about your season ticket tin? 44,000 of them. £10 each to produce(?), post, etc. That’s £440,000. Half of the price rise.

Like most people I’d be happy with an email link to my price freeze season ticket renewal page and nothing else.

That aside, cut the cheese, etc, pre, during, and post match, and City have definitely saved the remaining season ticket price rise.

Given the opportunity most City fans would rather miss out on those things and pay the same or less for their season tickets.

But the club in it’s wisdom thinks season ticket tins are a great marketing idea, even though they are costly. Flag wavers on the pitch. Let the fans wave flags. There are 101 things where the club are spending cash needlessly, wasting money, which should be ploughed back into freezing season ticket prices instead.

if you are struggling you don't go to football end of. what is it 80p a game extra?

fucking frightening.
It’s an increase of almost 200% in 8 years, I don’t have anything else in my life that’s gone up that much, and I’m talking essential bills here. My seasoncard was £450 in 2011 and is now £820 or £42 a game when to used to be £23 a game.

I can afford it, but I don’t see the fact that I can afford it as being okay, and for those that get ever closer to that brink with every rise should anyone be saying “oh well, never mind, you just need to suck it up”. We should all be looking out for each other, not thinking “fuck it, I can afford it so I’m not arsed about you skint ****s”.

Every price rise has been above, and in some cases fucking miles above, inflation for that year. For what justification? Pittance earnt for the club yet fans are continually falling away from our support.

It’s not right and I can’t fathom anyone who is okay with their friends and fellow Blues just disappearing from our support year on year.

Rather than increases, it is comparison to other premier league ticket prices that is important. Economic location needs to be taken into account, as does the viewing quality.

Watching the best team, in a great stadium is one side of the story, that we have a traditional fan base that Includes a majority of working class people is the other. We are slowly losing these people as season card holders. Are half season cards(9 games) category b games an option.

We are better value than Liverpool, I believe 685 is their cheapest seat, while Everton are less, but for that you get a lovely wooden seat in a wooden stand with a few wooden pillars in the way. And quite a few wooden players on the small pitch(no offense).

I don't know how much you pay for the privilege of watching United for a season, but is it much less than watching the treble winners?

Isn’t that the problem though. You shouldn’t have to give up things to go and watch a football match. Lots of people have given up things and struggle to go aswell....Football should be affordable for everyone imo. With the huge sponsorship deals we shouldn’t increase any ticket prices.

Manchester being one of the poorest areas - lots of locals aren’t benefiting or able to go. I’d rather not end up like united where all the locals sit in the pubs and are replaced by wealthier tourists
https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...eprivation-manchester-stats-city-top-10166607

“More than a twentieth of Manchester (6.4%) is made up of areas in the bottom 1% of deprived areas of England, with a quarter of the area (24.8%) made up of places in the bottom 5%”

Ill repeat that - ONE QUARTER OF OUR CITY IS IN THE BOTTOM 5% FOR DEPRIVATION IN THE COUNTRY!

And this doesn’t include Salford and Oldham that also struggle with the same thing with similar figures. No conurbation has more deprived areas than Greater Manchester.

The club really doesn’t know it’s audience. Yet they’ll pull their face when we don’t sell out a semi final and probably can fathom why they have to return tickets for a Wembley game. They’ll be lapping it up at Wembley for the Community Shield but will get to their seats and look at our end and think “why are there only 17000 of them here, look at the Liverpool end”.

And football clubs have lost touch with what they are supposed to be. They live with their heads in the clouds thinking sad ****s from anywhere and nowhere are all part of a football club when the reality is these nobodies would be nowhere near this club if we weren’t winning trophies.

Yet people in the cities their clubs are from live and breathe their city and the football club that represents them every day yet football clubs seemingly don’t give a shit about these people. It’s all about showing off spreadsheets or getting excited about completely meaningless things like the Deloitte money league table.

@jrb Why don't City arrange a Seasoncard sponsor?
A sponsorship deal where half the money goes to reducing the price of the seasoncards and half goes direct ot the club. Different season tickets could have different sponsors, based on the target market. The sponsors get direct marketing access to the fans which has to be better than your name on the sleeve.
