Season Ticket Renewals - small increases (again)

Gotta day the 1894 statement I’ve seen is disappointing. Sounds like they are trying to justify it.

Not really representing all the fans imo

I read that the club were randomly banning fans, particularly those believed moaning on BM all season - guess you must be one of them

Yes its cleansing by stealth. I heard they just don't send out e mails or any literature to certain fans. This is especially true as you reach the age where you qualify for a discounted season card. They have established that you must have a robust constitution and a strong heart as you didn't die during the awful hear attack years. On that basis you could be buying a reduced price season card for twenty years. If you are one of those selected for cleansing you won't hear anything from the club. Further all your attempts to contact them will be met with frustration. If you don't just give up once the deadline to renew passes you will be able to get through only to be told, "Sorry you didn't renew before the deadline." You can protest and cry all you want but the best you will be offered is a place on the waiting list. Oh and a free membership card as a gesture of goodwill so you have a window to buy tickets game by game before they go on general sale.

Looks like thr M.E.N have miss quoted the 1894 group. They released statement on face book.
MISREPRESENTATION OF OUR STATEMENT Just a quick point here to respond to some fans who have been tweeting us today. A Manchester Evening News article today said we “back the club’s decision to impose a price rise.” That is not what we said to the Evening News, as our position has been consistently in favour of a price freeze. As soon as this came out around mid-day we spent time asking the journalist (who we know well and usually does a great job highlighting fans’ issues) to change a strapline (headline) which we felt was mis-leading. The journalist didn’t want to this though. We have the full dialogue on our direct messages however we thought it would be useful to release the full conversation publicly. The Evening News contacted us first, we weren’t seeking publicity but we were asked an opinion and it was an opportunity to get something out with regards to safestanding also – which we see as a chance to get some cheaper tickets inside the stadium. Unfortunately, whilst some quotes were used the whole statement was not and we feel the strapline is damaging and a mis-representation. This I what we gave in full to the MEN : "Whilst we feel fans generally are paying too much for football and we feel strongly that prices should be frozen full stop, there has not been too much dissent this time around about season ticket prices - even though there have been some small rises. The club have FFP to deal with and there's an understanding amongst the support about this now and the fans are very much backing the owners as they have delivered what they promised years ago - to bring sustained success to the club.” “In the context of the season we have just had, the fantastic football we are experiencing and of course the backdrop of FFP - the fans will no doubt renew again in huge numbers.” “The relocation window also offers fans a chance to move and potentially grab a bargain." "We comment on the ticket prices because we feel they have a knock on effect with atmosphere. We think the club have developed a better understanding of that correlation in recent seasons. With safestanding on the agenda the way to get all the noisiest fans together would be to look at the pricing for such a section. It's an opportunity to get things right once and for all. We open our membership scheme tomorrow and we would encourage as many Blues as possible to stick with us and keep giving us their feedback as we pass that onto the club." "There may be some people adversely affected who originally had to move from the area that became the tunnel club. They were in 9320 but now have a large rise to deal with and only a short window to decide what to do. It's vital that all parts of the ground get value for money."  After the article went to print we contacted the journalist again… 1894 - Hi *********, any chance of amending the strapline it's not quite what we said. We don't back the club over a price rise. We're saying given great football, FFP etc we are sure fans will back the club but us as a group always campaign for price freezes M.E.N - Think the quote explains that, I was saying you're backing them amid them rising the ticket prices rather than you thinking they should be doing it. I've added a small line in in case that wasn't clear. 1894 - No the headlines though say we are backing the rise and the report says "And despite a few grumblings the decision to put prices up has been backed by fan group 1894." we wanted to convey lots of fans will go along with it given the circumstances because we can see the club are bringing sustained success - BUT – that’s not the same as - we are backing the decision to rise, we always campaign for freezes. could your editor just change the strapline ? thanks M.E.N - I've changed it a bit, just check back in five as it takes a few minutes for it to register. So there you go. There were people who have been in 93:20 and now face a £430 rise each this summer. This wasn't covered. We aren't the first to be misrepresented in the media and we won't be the last.

Granted that is my personal view and I’m aware it’s not the view of all fans but of everybody I know that I go home and away with, from either talking to directly or seeing their social media posts today, of which there’s easily well in excess of 200 people, some of which are even part of the 1894 group themselves, there’s not a single person that is “fine” with the increase. That’s why I used the term the majority and Begrudgingly paying it is not the same as being fine with it.

The renewal figures won’t show anything other than they can get away with it. I’ve already renewed, it doesn’t mean I’m fine with it, I’m dead against it, I just have no other option as I’m not prepared to give up a lifelong seasoncard.
If you were "dead against it", you wouldn’t renew.

Like it or lump it, we live in a market-driven world; football is no exception. City can charge what they like - and do. They’re not a charity. If people think it’s too much, they won’t pay. If they think it’s worth it, they will. I’d give up many, many things before my season card. Others wouldn’t. Choices. We all have them.

Isn’t that the problem though. You shouldn’t have to give up things to go and watch a football match. Lots of people have given up things and struggle to go aswell....Football should be affordable for everyone imo. With the huge sponsorship deals we shouldn’t increase any ticket prices.

Manchester being one of the poorest areas - lots of locals aren’t benefiting or able to go. I’d rather not end up like united where all the locals sit in the pubs and are replaced by wealthier tourists

You can afford yours, some are struggling not moaning.
Many can afford it but they don’t have the “I’m alright, Jack” attitude so are also sticking up for those who struggle or sticking it to the club for their extra huge £1m.
