Season Ticket Waiting List | Sold Out

We have close to 40k season ticket holders. When you take into account hospitality and away fans, that doesn't leave many for match-by-match sales and I believe the PL rules insist on having a certain number.

I'm puzzled as to why you think selling more season tickets is the answer to empty seats. The vast majority of those empty seats are because season ticket holders don't turn up and don't list their tickets on the Exchange or pass them on.

If that’s the real reason then fair enough, and the club’s hands are obviously largely tied.

I have heard that reason before but didn’t know if it was true, suppose my head can’t get round the fact of somebody paying £500+ on a ST and not turning up to use it.

I make sure to get every penny worth out of mine :)

Anything is fairer than what they’ve just done, but in my opinion, as matchday membership was what was advertised as getting people onto the waiting list that should be the mechanism for determining priority order - number of continuous years, then matches attended. I didn’t notice they’d swiped the waiting list ‘benefit’ from the membership. When did that happen?
I noticed it yesterday or the day before. May be reintroduced now that this supposed window has ended in order not to cause any more confusion. I believe you had to have been a member from the 9th or whatever it was this month to be eligible to get a season ticket today......... along with a needle in a haystack.

As long as matchdays are priced for day trippers rather than Mancs, you will get people sitting on season tickets knowing they will not get to all the games, but are still in the black compared to a matchday price and have a seat reserved for the big ones.

This is why I think the Silver was a good idea poorly executed. Handled properly, it could have helped minimise those practices, but obvs availability has played its part, along with the bean counters, I should imagine.

My two pence worth is that the club are heavily oversubscribed with season ticket holders. As others have mentioned there's the people that decided to renew this year after deferring last season now returning and the new season ticket holders it took on from last season. In my eyes they grossly underestimated the amount of people coming back and probably took on too many last season to make up the shortfall.
The cityzen membership was/is sold as the only way of getting onto the 'waiting list' and getting yourself a season ticket. As it is sold as the main benefit of the membership they needed to look as though they were offering something to cityzen members and that gave birth to the silver season ticket (this may just be coincidental but seems logical). It also explains why they are so elusive with numbers if so few were available. I can't see anywhere in the cityzens membership that mentions being put on the waiting list now either?!!
The way its been handled is very poor and the slogan the membership pack comes with in that it 'brings you closer to the club' is a bit ironic as a number have never felt so far away. I especially feel sorry for the individuals like Jam Tomorrow with 6500 points- potentially missing out to somebody whose never stepped foot in the Etihad before. Completely senseless way of doing it but encourages large numbers to pay £35 each year instead of rewarding loyalty. I can't see myself buying one of these lottery tickets again.
Cityzens membership is good for the discount if you're going to go a fair bit in a season, especially for FA Cup matches at home where kids can go for as little as £1. And if you don't buy a membership, then you've got no chance of buying an ST at all, plus, if/when you do bag an ST, the price of membership comes off it. So I'll be keeping mine, but I understand how you feel - because there is that element of 'buying a ticket to get a chance to buy a ticket' about it.

Always almost impossible to get a new SC the season after a great one. There were lot more available in the dry seasons of Mancini and Pellegrini and with Haaland arriving they were always going to go quick today. Think we do overstate the size of our fan base in terms of match going fans …. CL games are massively full of tourists and day trippers, lots of SC holders in our section in SS don’t attend these games or some of the other cup games. Clearly lots of the empty seats are SC holders not attending for whatever reason (Family Stand in particular - kids busy or ill at short notice etc). But lets not forget in recent times we have struggled to sell out big games, Barca/RM a few years back come to mind - can we be sure if we had a 60/65k capacity that it would be full?

The fact is, non SC match day tickets are too expensive for a lot of people, at least regularly

I can’t find the rules about PL season ticket percentages - I am sure Newcastle and Leeds were both 100% season ticket at one point

Each to their own mate. The majority of games I go to are cup games as I struggle to justify the league matchday prices plus 3 hours driving, parking and additional expenses on top. Most of the cup games go to general sale anyway so aside from being placed in the season ticket queue behind people who joined the queue 45 mins after me I don't get a great deal out of the membership. Haha.

After being a "Citizen matchday member" for over 10 years , i decided to try my luck for a siver season card this morning and luckily i got one , however it cost me £390 in south stand level 3 , taking into account the 5 games not included , say £55 each , so thats another £275 , so for the whole season , thats £665 , not sure that works out much less than i'v paid over the years as a matchday member , the main reason i wanted a season card was to guarantee a seat in the low letters (i've got H) as at 61 with breathing issues climbing up to level MM almost kills me...
anyway i'm happy to have a season card for the first time in nearly 50 years of supporting the blues ,hopefully the demand will encourage the powers that be to extend the north stand as soon as possible..

North Stand Expansion needs to happen sooner rather than later.

I'd also argue that fans who have a season ticket, but only turn up for the big games, should be penalised and the card should go to someone who wants to go to all 19 matches!
everyone wants to do all 19. not always possible.
my daughter works in retail so only does half the games . do you want to take her card off her. the same kid that was at Chesterfield Walsall etc. or singing CTID on the way back from Boro after the 8-1. yeah that's fair.

You have to climb the spiral to get to level 3 so I don’t understand that logic. Get one in the lower tiers and you can get one as far back as you want
