Trying to push 2 things-
Mentally: Spanish may be useful in my work but not sure overly where to start. Maybe Babbel.

I always find Linguaphone or Assimil a good way to start a language and get all the basics in place. They take you to a decent lower-intermediate level and give a thorough grounding in the language. Not the cheapest but you can often find decent 2nd hand copies on eBay.
