Heading to KSA for about 35m. Somethings not adding up with these Saudi transfers. These are all bargain deals
Could be that a lot of it, if not all, is up front. Lots of deals are paid in instalments, but it looks great for a P&L account to have £35m added to it. Clubs are perhaps valuing liquidity more at the moment than getting a larger fee over a longer period.

The cash payments and how they are structured don't effect the P&L account. The actual fee less any residual balance from the purchase not amortised is what hits the P&L. Different clubs will worry about different things with bigger fee perhaps being needed for FFP even if the cash is paid later and others like you have alluded to will be desperate for the cash and willing to give a discount for up front payments.

Just think with this guy there has been a lot of talk of top clubs being interested but none of it has ever resulted in a move. Suspect they have looked but decided not good enough and its about the correct rate given age/ability and contract.

The amount they can offer, tax free, in wages, reduces the clubs options.

If you are SMS and you have a £200k p/w offer from, say, Chelsea (of which you will take home around half) - and an untaxed £700k p/w offer from Saudi Arabia you are going to force the club's hand and force a move to the middle east - meaning they never have a bidding war because no one can compete with the crazy contracts.
