a blip,a glitch or whatever, give him two on sat and he sticks them in, repeated misses in different matches on a reg basis raises an eybrow

He was still in pellegrini mode (no focus. Lazy. Sloppy. Can't be arsed) with those pens but obviously improved with some great finishing. Needs to get in the habit of being bang on his game and totally focused, like the rest of the team

I hope so. But I think that PKs are 90% mental though and a completely different animal than open play goals.

I still think that laser pen shining in his eyes by some twat in the crowd put him off the first one, as it was at a time he was getting prepared to take the kick. Then the second one was him trying to over compensate by thumping it in and he put a bit too much power in it.

Kun showed great character tonight to come back after missing two penalties and score a hat-trick.

Three top class finishes and his eighth triple for us.

We really do have one of the best ever on our books.

And yet he's the top scorer in 2016!

Sergio has been off his game for all of 2016. Certainly below his previous standards. The worrying thing for me is that he is consistently making the wrong decision on the ball. Particularly dribbling or shooting when a short pass would be the better option. I can't see that lasting under Pep. Firstly, he is too good a player for the dip to continue and secondly, a player who chooses the wrong option consistently over the good of the team won't be in Pep's team. Not that this will transpire with Sergio, he is too good not to adapt. I suspect that some of his poor form in 2016 was down to the knowledge and frustration that he was playing in a team that had been allowed to gradually lose its desire to compete over the previous 3 years. That's not an excuse but it certainly looked like it.

Anyway, if he stays fit then he will get back up to speed and score 25 this season. He was the worst player for City on Saturday though.
