I honestly think Aguero can play in the false 9 position and focus on creating chances for our wingers and occasionally score goals vs. playing as an out and out striker and shooting at the goal blindly hoping to score impossible goals

So a few of us have just given up on Aguero actually playing the way Pep wants?

Correct me if I'm wrong but did Lewandowski adapt to the way Pep wanted?

I'm not sure he is selfless enough to play a role like that

City Source to MEN: "if Sergio is saying it is down to the club, well the club really wants him to stay."

He has played in that role at Athletico Madrid, where he was the support striker. Look at his assists tally in the early part of his City career as well. He would create chances for Tevez, Dzeko and even Negredo more recently. Over the last couple of years however his involvement in build up play and decision making has been poor. It's frustrating to see him shoot the moment he gets near the penalty area vs. passing to his teammates who might be in better areas. I'm not sure of injuries have played a part in his change of playing style maybe he doesn't have the fitness to run around in the midfield anymore and therefore lurks around the box as an out and out striker. The next few weeks and months are going to be very interesting for aguero and his role in this team.

Manchester City see Sergio Aguero as part of their long-term plans and are planning for a future with him. He will NOT be sold. [Sky Sports]

Whatever happens... I would love to see Sergio leave the club on good terms, and as our best ever goalscorer.

If he leaves, he'll go down as a legend, and he'll leave on good terms with the club, and will always be welcomed back.

If he stays, then he must knuckle down and play the new way, content in the knowledge that he isn't undroppable, he has stiff competition and isn't our sole goal-scorer.

Either way, City will benefit.

I'm a fan from Indiana in the US where it is Super Bowl Sunday, so apologies in advance for the analogy, but the Aguero/G. Jesus situation reminds me a lot of Peyton Manning.

Manning was the star quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts and in the discussion for best of all time, when the Colts got the 1st pick of draft & chance to take Andrew Luck. Luck was projected by many to be a once in a lifetime type talent and everyone knew the Colts HAD to take him. The Colts chose to draft Luck & get rid of Manning so Luck could be the starter.

Manning would go on to win the Super Bowl with his new team while Luck, though a really good player, has been unable to lead the Colts to the same degree of success as they had become accustomed to with Manning.

Long story short, City has the striker of the future in Jesus and he will be great, but we should be VERY careful before giving up on the legend that is Aguero...chances are we'd come to regret it.
