Sergio's Injury

Are there no techniques to reduce the amount of muscle injuries at this club?

You watch - the day Aguero is back, Kompany or Silva will do their calf or hamstring again.

Did we have such bad luck with injuries during the title winning season?

no...

according to physio room:

Number of injuries(after totting up all the ones they've listed)

2008/09: 49.
2009/10: 64.
2010/11: 41.
2011/12: 37.
2012/13: 70.
2013/14: 25*.

So whatever we were doing right in those 2 trophy winning seasons we need to get back urgently.

It's just part of the modern game, some seasons we get lucky some we don't Liverpool have just lost two of their best players to injuries the Rags have lost RVP

It could be sooner than a month for all we know

He is a big loss, no doubt about it.

However, it will be interesting to see how we do without him. This isn't the City of old after all.

Didn't we fire our Physio team of those trophy winning season?

We've got the squad to play a flexible 4-5-1 system. Four defenders and a focal point up top, the rest can be as offensive or defensive as circumstances dictate. Kun is a great player and will be missed, but his absence will allow the others the chance to step up to the plate and prove they are worthy members of what is on the verge of becoming a great team.

I noticed that Aguero picked up the injury directly after the restart - perhaps he was not warmed up.

We had noticed that he was limping a little not long after he scored the first goal. Maybe the stretching out for that goal started it off?
Probably just went without warning. The extended highlights on the City website show when it happened, and it all looks very innocuous

I think it's good news that he's already back on a bike, and he's young so he should heal quickly. And he'll get the best of attention.

Looking at the fixture list, the games where we'll miss him are Liverpool and Newcastle away. Like others have said, if we can win those games, then maybe this will work in our favour as we can get other players up to speed, and he gets a rest.

Few people mentioning Jovetic, but it's a big ask to expect him to come in and play at his best straight off. It will take at least a month, and even without Aguero he'll still struggle for games with Negredo and Dzeko

Will be interesting to see what the manager does. On paper Aguero and anyone of Negredo, Dzeko or Jovetic works, but can two of the other three play together? Not sure. I'd prefer to play an extra man in midfield and use Negredo or Dzeko as a lone striker with Jovetic on the left as I think he has played there for Fiorentina.

I think the manager would want to pair up jovetic with a striker. Can't think he would play jovetic upfront on his own as it's not his natural position unless we are defending a lead in the last ten mins perhaps . The thing I don't quite like is we haven't figured out the best setup yet with jovetic as he hadn't had enough time to play with the other strikers yet in meaningful matches.

The set up you allude to has been up and running from day dot

We play a 'style' of footbal now where by the players slot into the system, not a system that caters for individual needs

Jovetic will play perfectly off a big striker just like kun, with the bonus of having possibly a greater eye for a pass than kun, his shortcoming is his lack of goals!!!

Okay, so it’s still bad, with City revealing Sergio will be out for at least a month.

It’s certainly a massive blow with the busy Christmas period coming up, but news has reached thatkunaguero this morning that we may still get a Yuletide booster.

Our sources for info at Carrington are stating Aguero’s injury is “not as bad as being made out” and privately, he could even be back for when we travel to face Newcastle United on January 12th.

Okay, that would actually be 27 days without Kun in the saddle, but you have to take the positives, especially, when some reports suggest he could be out for six weeks.

Sergio was able to do a good 20 minutes on an exercise bike on Monday and the physios are already revising their rehab timetable.

:-)

silva missed a few games and nasri stepped up , pretty sure dzeko or jovetic will take their opportunity ,( or we can play 5 in the middle with the beast up front ) , aguero is brilliant but not irreplaceable , unlike yoooonited when they lose shrek or the rapist they are complete and utter shite , we will prevail
