Serie A - 2021/22

With Inter having won earlier at Spezia, Milan had to wait until 88' so as to seal the victory vs Genoa at home. Basically hanging on to Leao's early lead (11'), against a team desperately fighting for its survival, in what turned out to be another really stressful experience (2 - 0 final score). At least this time they did not drop points, I am sure Pioli will be happy to take that result...

The usual setup in midfield from Pioli, with Tonali - Benacer - Kessie aiming to establish as much control as possible, creating very little upfront though. Yet Milan's energy levels remain the worrying theme -basically the story of the season at a global scale. Pioli had to use all 5 subs, with 2/3 of his forwards leaving the pitch after an hour...

Balances at the top of the Serie A table remain extremely delicate. Good luck to Spaleti's men against the ****'s team...

I'd say Genoa are more a desperate team fighting for survival, alas, but agree with the rest of your analysis. Do like Leao as a prospect, though he does still drift in (briefly) and out (too long) of matches. Next weekend should be interesting as the four Milan and Rome clubs meet.

Bit of a disaster for Napoli last night. A point from their last two home games probably means they’re reliant on others if they’re to get back into the title race.

Fantastic season for Hellas Verona.

Tudor has done a brilliant job after replacing the last clown with just three or four matches played.

It looked like it was going to be a desperate campaign for the Gialloblu, but they turned it right around, hopefully they can keep this guy for a while, unlike what happened with Juric.

Three straight wins for Salernitana (Sampdoria/Udinese/Fiorentina) and they now see themselves as improbably surviving. Cagliari desperately need the three points in Genoa this evening.
