I dont understand some how people could say no to him hes a massive part of one the best defences in the EPL and wouldnt cost the earth, for me its a no brainer. Lets be honest here hes easily the best defender available for less then 10mil and low wages(hes on less then 30k aweek at the minute) the club is trying to cost the wage bill for ffp! Toure 120k a week Lescott 90k Kompany 130k Nastasic 50k we need to bring our wage bill in line without effecting the strength of the team.

Gary Cahill wasn't considered an amazing player at Bolton but he's done alright at Chelsea. He didn't do too badly in the Champions League final either so the fact that Shawcross has never played champions league football isn't that big.

With Kolo likely to leave in the summer, I think Shawcross would be a good replacement for him and could do a good job for us.

We need good players to cover for our starting 11 who are willing to fight for there place and if Shawcross is willing to do that, I don't see what the problem is.

He's not world class either. Alonso, Mascherano and De Rossi are levels above him and we should be looking at that level rather than level below.

I was gutted to see him go but this is why my 'philosophy' should be heeded. Love the club but see every manager and player as a worker rather than fall in love, it only leads to bias and disappointment.

Yaya and Zaba are my weakspots but if they were to go life goes on. Lol relax, i'm winding you up - totally disagree with the NDJ statement though, when the opposing teams switched it last year (post dec) he allowed for a plan B we no longer possess - either Nigel would come on and we felt comfortable pushing Yaya forward or he could simply get amongst the opposition and battle hard, we've lost that bite unquestionably imo, in fact i'd go as far to say opposing teams use it to there advantage!
