What's the score with Shay Given? Has Hart overtaken him in the pecking order now? Last season, most of you were hailing Given as the best keeper in the world.

What happened?

A combination of Hart's impressive form for Birmingham last season mixed in with performances matching that of Tottenham on Saturday just gone mixed in with Hart being the future of City at his age. Given is a brilliant shot stopper but he was coming off his line too much. He's not so strong on crosses etc.

Shay is about the best number 2 we could have - although I don't think he'll settle for it.

Down the pecking order because of that absolute howler against Blackburn at the weekend, i mean my God! What a stupid......erm....oops ;)

Shay is still the better keeper mainly through experience but we have to look at the bigger picture. We cannot risk losing Joe and if that means upsetting Shay, then so be it.

it simply comes down to them both wanting to play first team football and not wanting to sit on the bench, they are both far too good to sit on the bench so we need to choose. Lets face it there is not much between them and any other day Mancini could have chose Given, he's chose Hart so Shay wants to move on, good luck to him. I don't think there is a club in Europe that can keep two genuine top quality 'keepers happy.

Not one City fan on here said Given was the best keeper in the world last season.

The deal with Shay is, as good as he is, and in fairness I would say he's pretty equal with Joe if not a tad better, Joe has the ability to be one of the very best and surpass Shay very quickly. He's already England's #1 and could be City's as well for the next 15 years.

So it makes sense to put him in now and let him develop, harsh as it is on Shay, it makes better sense for City in the long term.

we have not lost any love for shay, he is still a top keeper and will still play a large number of games this season (if he stays)

mancini feels hart is the better option at the moment and after saturday who would disagree,

not even shay i bet!
