According to Bild, he is stalling on a contract (runs out in 2013) and they have confirmed he would like to play in England... but are trying to keep him. With his contract he could be signed for around £12.5million if he decides to leave.

Every time I see him I think he is fantastic and he is pure entertainment. Fast, tricky, skillful, and 100% workrate. He also scores tons of goals, is an attacking midfielder or wide forward, and also has outstanding dribbling skills.

But what you get with a player like this is a door into the Japanese market, where there's always money to be made.

Unfortunately he's linked with United and Chelsea, and would improve both a lot, but I wonder if he is someone we could be after as he is one of those players that can unlock teams with pure skill. I think he is a top class talent and would be cheap because of his contract IF he decides not to sign a new one.

A good article on him: <a class="postlink" href="http://footballsnewtalent.wordpress.com/tag/shinji-kagawa/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://footballsnewtalent.wordpress.com ... ji-kagawa/</a>

Dortmund play fast, effecient, intelligent football.

We play totally the opposite. Slow, labouring and predictable.

I don't think he will ever come here but even if he did, I can't see him fitting in (as long as Mancini is in charge).

Not that subtle but nice try

Marketing department would probably be very happy with this signing. I have no clue how good he is but can't be bad if he gets regular starts at Dortmun? Also isn't he a winger which we could use more/better? I imagine he's not much better than AJ but i might be talking bs. :P

He's miles better than Johnson, there's no comparison. And he's a terrific player, I know what they say about YouTube but he isn't a highlights player, he never stops working and has a typical Japanese mentality (hard working and loyal). Even so, here are some of his skills.

Could say he's a bit like his Japanese counterpart Honda, has a great engine!

My favourite type of player. Rapid, direct, has the ball under total control, has a brilliant football brain, creates and also scores. This type of player would make a huge difference to our team. Unfortunately he strikes me as being a very very Fergusony type player and I think Utd will be all over this kid.

He is not very fast - after the data in the statistic pages he is only average with that. And he wins the least wins man on man of all of the usual offensive midfield targets in the Bundesliga. Dortmund plays a more counter style of football with a special system - so I have my problems to really know if he is really good or only good in this system.

If somebody steps on his feet - and that will be often in matches against minor teams that try to defend very well - he will not be able to show like in the Augsburg lately were he was in man coverage.

He's not in the same class as Silva or Nasri and we don't need anymore attacking midfielders, we need people who can deliver quality crosses into the box to give us a different option.
