right so i was talking to a blue who says he works in Abu Dhabi and hears all the juicy inside info..
he was saying that we are getting a new sponsor next season, replacing etihad to the tune of 100m. i asked who the sponsor was and all he would say was "a financial company"
could we really be replacing Etihad after 1 season but he said this was part of the reason for the new kits

anyone else heard this??

I think we're only getting 1 new kit and thats the home one, your friend is probably thinking about the telecom company we signed a sponsership deal with mid season, we won't be removing Etihad from our shirts yet.

Doubt it. We are still keeping the 3rd kit, and they are still charging £40 for it. So i cant see us changing sponsor next season. I'l be really fucked off if they do though, only bought the 3rd shirt 2 weeks ago!

this fella seemed 100% certain. dont know him. just chatting with him. seemed like the successful business man type. not a surprise to hear he works in AbuDhabi

I can't believe that. Etihad would be furious, and considering how strong their ties are to Abu Dhabi...

definitely not happening. etihad here for at least another 3 years and probably more. word is they are delighted with media coverage and branding visibility in the media. think you will find that the club have closed more new sponsor deals though on the back of etisalat so that is probably what you are hearing.

Etihad are staying.

I'm sick of bull shit rumours on here about our kits and who is making and who is sponsoring them.

"Puma are doing our kits next season" was all over here until I and a select few others pointed out that our current 3rd kit is staying for next season, so how could it be. We can't have a Umbro kit one week and Puma the next.

In light of that, Etihad's name is on our 3rd kit. I don't think we're going to have two different sponsors over 3 different kits manufactured and designed by two different kit makers...

Maybe we could have Ocean Finance on our shirts for Derby games . . .

Although I have said we will be keeping Etihad as our shirt sponsor i would like to point out a flaw in a part of your logic.
City could just change the sponsor logo on the shirt like we did when we had
Le Coq Sportif in the 01/02 season we kept the same kit in the 02/03 season but changed our sponsor from Eidos to First Advice.

They could also change the sponsor on the home kit only, or the home and away kits and keep Etihad as 3rd shirt or away & 3rd shirt sponsors. It has been done before.
