Listening to the radio and it said that a rugby player has been banned for around 26 weeks for spitting.

Is it time football came out of the dark ages and started imposing serious bans for serious offences? 3 games ban for a mistimed challenge yet a player gets the same for a malicious elbow(or nothing in the case of Rooney) it seems a little uneven

James Graham got a 12 game ban for biting an opponent in the NRL Grand Final. Luis Suarez got 7 games for the same offence when at Ajax.

I agree, but I think it should go one step further and FA fines should be based upon multiples of a weeks pay and not some random amount.

When I see taggart getting a £20k fine for abusing the ref it makes me so bloody angry seeing as he probably earns that in a day.

He might think twice about opening his gob if he was potentially facing a fine of a minimum of £140k (1 weeks wage assuming he earns £20k/day - £7.5m/year).
