Should Craft Beer be sold in Working men's clubs?

When the temperature drops to around 22-24'c the locals all put on coats and jumpers and sit there shivering :-)

I was there about 5 years ago and it got ‘down’ to that kind of temp and there were people walking around with Benny hats on.

in spoons it's about £3.50 for a real ale

I was on the ale trail yesterday and in the wetherspoons in Batley you could a pint of cask for as little as £1.77.

I had a couple of Doombars and they were £2.04 a pint.

The low ABVs were a hangover of the Munitions Act which shaped licensing hours for three quarters of a century. In Edwardian times beer was strong. Most stuff over 5%.

That would make the upcoming Saturday 8pm kick off interesting.

What constitutes a craft beer? If it’s a pint of that flowery shit that stinks of perfume (and cheap perfume at that), I’m out.

And then they have the temerity to charge £7 for the shite.

They do have hobgoblin at my local club. I think that’s a craft beer?? But i refuse to have it for the reasons outlined above albeit it’s not £7 a pint.

Hobgoblin isn’t craft beer.

I think they make it by getting a pint of bitter, leaving it out for 6 months, topping it up with raw sewage then serving it. Disgusting nasty shite and I’ve no idea who drinks it.

Where were you charged £7.50 for a Guinness in the NQ?

Yes prices are on the high end round there - it costs a lot to run a city centre bar - but that is a crazy price.

Guinness wholesale prices are v high which is why it tends to be more expensive than other mass produced beers. It’s not like it costs 20p a pint and pubs just enjoy ripping people off.

Everywhere I’ve been in the NQ Guinness is about £5 a pint.
