Pay is dictated by supply, demand and barriers to entry. Good care workers do a hugely worthwhile job but it’s an occupation that is very easy to enter. Hence low wages.

You're dead right it's a supply and demand thing, imagine having to pay the droves of bottom wiping heroes a decent wage considering we are going to need more of them in the next decade.
You’ve still not answered what you do? It’s not so easy just to change careers if you’ve committed to a pension scheme and reach a certain age, you have to see it out to get the benefit for the shit you’ve dealt with. Many are leaving the fire service to drive trains! Those young enough to be able to get the benefit of starting again. Train drives are on £48k plus, for driving a train, not been spit on, threatened with knives or guns, if I’d been ten years younger I would have gone. Your claiming it’s not a war zone, which means you have no idea, the country is ducked a lot more than even the Daily Mail know, maybe go see for yourself. Why don’t you try reading what I’d posted before rushing in and looking stupid?
Thread has been purged of the worst of it :)This was a good thread to read, pity it's getting derailed.
