Should we sit Yaya for Spurs?

94% successful pass rate at Bolton- can't be doing too much wrong.

He didn't do that many passes though and vs swans he was awful in the 1st half.

Never really rated him anyway, last season he only had about 13 good games the rest he was average or a bit below. He is overrated quite a bit, but he will always be thought of highly due to his 2 goals in the FA cup finals

Fuck me. Actually don't after that comment. People seem to think that if you don't score a goal or go on a 40 yard run then you don't contribute anything - unless you're De Jong. Barry gets slated on here too, yesterday Yaya was instrumental in breaking play up and in build up. Open your eyes to what's happening around the half way line as well as the opposition's final third.

IMO, he was more or less the architect of everything good about that game.

Numerous occasions he could be seen telling Barry and Milner where to go in order to drag the Bolton players around, before nicking it forward sweetly to Silva or Dzeko, who had moved into the space created.

Brilliant player whether it's behind a striker or in front of the defence. Class personified, I do think he's been a little sluggish this season, even if he has been playing further back but it'll take him a couple of games to get up to speed, no worries about that and for me should be with Silva, Hart and Vinny as the first names on the team sheet.

How do you even know Yaya's fasting? You're quick to jump on yaya's performances during ramadan but don't forget we have another muslim who's been playing better than ever, Edin Dzeko! No mention of him. What would u say if u found out Dzeko was observing the fast during games?

I would say that it is wrong, as I know having watched the three games (both league games and the pre-season friendly against the rags) that he has been feeding on chances, and not only that, he has been feeding his teammates on chances as well.

Now to look for a sensible thread.

I doubt he's fasting because when he was at barca him and Abidal didn't take part in ramadhan and made up after and even if he was since the game is away he wouldn't be required to fast. Kolo fasts in ramadhan though.

I don't think that at all! Nigel and zab are my favourite players. Defenders have always been my favourite players for some reason. I also rarely slag off Barry either because I know he is slow but he cant help it. He is not played for pace and skill, I sympathise with him because I'm a slow coach too.

All I'm saying is he is really overrated. I have seen him a lot of the time walking around in an adebayor like way. Usually in the 1st half, I reckon bobby gives him a bit of a wake up call at ht. There have been 13 games last season why he was good, in fact brilliant but the others he was average for most of it.

The more he tries the better he plays and all I love is players who always try their best like nige, zab, Bellamy, dunne(when he was here) and tevez before he slagged off Manchester.

What are you trying to say about Yaya Toure? The guy is the only player in the world who could've done the job we asked of him last season as well as he did. Creativity, skill, astuteness and physique. What could he possibly do to get your appraisal?!?!?!?

this thread is pointless yaya was amazing against swansea ans asked to take on a more subdued role against bolton in the absence of NDJ. everyone seems to forget dzeko is a muslim and he's playing out of his skin atm

This exactly!

The reason why Yaya is so revered is because there's more to him than gallant 40 yard runs.

If I was Yaya, I'd be so cheesed off. Honestly, some of the comments here.

I consider Yaya to be undroppable. Along with Silva they are the two players who we simply can't replace. His range, weight and choice of passing is astounding. Probably the best in the league. And then there are his runs.

If he plays the same position and quality as vs Bolton, he should play.

If he's to keep bumping into Silva, making runs and continiously slamming the ball towards Venus, like he did against Swansea, then he should take a rest.

Well said.

Here is a thought! How about if Nige is healthy, Nige takes another weeks rest and starts on the bench. Yaya played the DM position at Bolton with less grit, but way more range and purpose.

I am almost certain, Nige will start on the bench if healthy against Totenham. Why start the guy who is just getting back from an injury when your 3 CMs just had a blinder playing together. That game at Bolton was the free-est flowing footie CIty has played in forever. Even the commentators had to admit they looked good.

While I wouldn't argue that it was the exclusion of Nige's restrictive offensive game that caused that, I am more than willing to argue those who were around when it happened, surely should get another chance to do it again.

And for the guy who thinks Yaya is overrated. And didn't make that many passes anyway. Yaya made 64 passes. Last season in the last game Nige finished, he made 47 passes. Generally 50 is about the average for the DM in a game. So the notion the guy with the 3rd most touches on the ball didn't make lots of passes is a bit laughable,

But I digress. Yaya and Barry will not be dropped. That is just a fact. The question then is, will Mancini drop the 2nd best player from the last game? I doubt it. Nige stays on the bench until we get a lead.

Additional advantage in having Yaya's height and size to bolster our defense and to counter our opponents' set pieces in our box leaving Silva, Aguero et al (Nige?) with the offensive skills to counterattack.

Interesting article on the subject of fasting during Ramadan
