Ok, another thought provoking question. Let me be clear in that I'm not trying to be pompous and I'm just an ordinary guy who just wants to know the opinions of others.

Should you judge a book by its cover?

Well, yes, I think you should. A more appropriate phrase, for me, being "Should you judge a book, buy its cover." Why should you judge a book by its cover? Well your appearance is an epitomisation of your personality is it not?

Why does a book even have a cover? It must surely be because 'superficial' judgement is an immutable trait of the human mind or because it's an appropriate way of summarising the contents of a book. Either way, judging is inexorable. I feel that the appearance of all the people I know is indicative of their personality. Isn't that common sense? You're appearance is just an ostensibly less discernible indication of your character. I guess the problem arises from judging what you yourself can judge. That, in itself, is an irresolvable problem. One, I feel, in which no-one can ever perfect. Personally,

I'm less gifted than most in judgement. For this reason, I try to judge people with great purpose and conviction, to correct any subconscious fallacies I may assume. For me, it works better than simply 'not judging.' I feel that's impossible.

Is that right? Or am i wrong? why?

Thoughts?

Well if any book i picked up contained a preface, that contained words to falsely give the impression of intellect, id certainly hide it behind the dusty section of the library. Should i come across a gnarled old bloke in a pub that on further listenings seemed to have a glimmer of interest I'd but him an extra pint,to sit and listen to the man, he may well have had a very interesting life that his outwardly appearance doesn't allude to.

In other words, fuck off you pretentious mans pee thing, i judge every one and thing as i go along

If it's a book about spelling and punctuation, yes.

No.

The phrase 'don't judge a book by its cover' and the phrase 'should you judge a book, buy its cover' are both correct, they just mean different things.

OP, to his credit, didn't even fall into the trap of putting an apostrophe in 'its' when it wasn't required. In fact, many BM'ers could learn a thing or two from his post.

This is the third post i have read of your's which is absolute drivel. You use words like 'ostensibly' and 'discernible' i bet you don't and haven't the opportunity to use them in the 'real' world. As your egotistical online persona disintigrates, enabling your true being to manifest itself, i can only offer you one word: disconcertion.

Any more of your shit and i will foe the fuck out of you.

Glen out.
