If De Rossi falls through though and Martinez hasn't gone to Bayern, we could do a classic hijack job. Would be some nice comeuppance for Rummenigge after his disgusting comments about our club last season.

Bayern coy over Martinez

Reports are suggesting Bayern Munich are set to beat Manchester City to the signing of Javi Martinez but the German club's manager,
Jupp Heynckes, is refusing to give anything away.

The Athletic Bilbao star has a €40million (£31.5m) release clause in the remaining four years of his contract and it looks likely he will leave before the transfer deadline.

City boss Roberto Mancini over the weekend revealed he had made an enquiry about Martinez but Bayern's Heynckes is not speaking so openly.

He told Bild ahead of Monday's German Cup game against SSV Jahn Regensburg: "I can just advise you to be patient until both clubs have something to say on this.

"Why should I be talking to you about Javi Martinez? I am the manager of Bayern Munich, we are out to play a German Cup match now.

"And Javi Martinez is not a player of Bayern Munich."

I fully expect him to join Bayern unless city match the release clause and give him food for thought.

The more i think of this the more it makes sense.

Yes it's a lot of money but a player that is wanted by Barca / Bayern.

If we pay say 35 mill and we keep him for 2 years, if he fulfills his potential (likely) then we would get our money back if not we'd probably get 10 mill for him.

I am a bit puzzled why we havent gone all out for this one, we were obviously interested...

It would be a cheaper option than DDR overall...

It would be a big fee but his wages would be less and we would get decent money when we sell him...

The only reason i could think is that he wasnt keen..

If, and it's a big if, the policy is to sell / get rid before we buy then I'm not surprised we're not at the forefront of things. With Ade and RSC still on the books City need to deal with these first before bring in stellar names. We already have Silva reputedly looking for £200k plus now and there comes a time when City need to start sorting this shit out before FFP gives us a giant kick in the gonads.......

With DDR seeming dead in the water IF Bobby really wants this guy we've got to go the extra mile and bring him in. Pissing off B Mun is an added bonus.

DDR is obviously first choice,it will gather momentum when DDR decides to stay in Rome and waste his career winning nothing.

how has he wasted his career, hes at the club he supports, hes a local and he loves playing for them ?

he also won the world cup, pretty good career if you ask me.

Good post. I wish people wouldnt get all high and mighty now we've won the league. Remember where we came from, there are few footballers who have loyalty these days and they are a credit to themselves and the game.

Hopefully Micah will prove to be one of these types of player

Now that we know DDR is staying put lets highjack his move to Bayern and sign him up.

For 40m Euros he is well overrated and I have watched him enough to have this opinion. He sounds appealing to us because he can play in midfield and defense.

He is a very good player but not at the money Bilbao are talking about and I can see is getting well ripped off if we get him.
