Sinead O'Connor RIP

Was a Prince album track/B side iirc. He wrote it, not a 60s song
It was written by prince and recorded/produced by him under a group which he setup called The Family in 1984, made up from various people he had worked with.

the original differs from sinead's version by having no drums and being more orchestral.

i always think having the drum machine in sinead's version is more prince sounding than the family's version.

he later released a version himself around 1992 on a greatest hits album, but it sounded a bit contrived and overdone.

initially o'conner gave prince praise at the mtv awards for writing a beautiful song,
but apparently they didn't get on when they met.
i saw recently on tv that she alleged prince assaulted her around the time they first met.

Now they can both carry on squabbling on who deserves the most credit.

“Heavy hearted at the loss of Sinead O’Connor. Wanted to reach out to her often but didn’t. I remember her launch. Astounding presence. Voice that cracked stone with force & by increment. As beautiful as any girl around & never traded on that card. I Loved that about her. Iconoclast.”

I have never previously seen this,or the brilliant interview that accompanied........Just a beautiful rendition, maybe the best ive heard her.

Piers was so respectful and nice to her in that interview, shame he can't be like that all the time.

She alleged she wasn't the only woman Prince assaulted, she blamed it on his unpredictable drug fuelled character.
