Looking at going out for the day on Saturday. Nowhere too far like. All we want is somewhere we can mooch around, go for a drink and bite to eat and just potter about. Need to get away for the day.
Some friends at work used to go on about Skipton and its market. Supposed to be a few nice pubs there too. Anyone been? If not, or if it's bobbins, can anyone suggest anywhere within the 100 mile mark?

Matlock's not bad for a mooch, go through Buxton and it can be a nice drive dependant on the weather and some nice country pubs on the way.

I was looking at driving down to Shrewsbury on Friday or Saturday for the same reason. Just thought i'd get away for the day. Don't ask me why Shrewsbury but I just seem to remember going there once years ago and it was really nice. Betws-Y-Coed is always a nice afternoon, nice drive there, a lovely walk up by the river, cracking model shop for model railways (im buying bits here and there for when one of the kids leave home and I can build it in theyre bedroom), theres a train carriage you can have a bite to eat in or plenty of small cafes, restauraunts etc and some nice small independent shops to browse in.

My mate's missus has got family in Shrewsbury and they go down near enough every weekend. He just fishes with her dad on the river while she and her mum yak at each other. He loves it.
