Sky Ref Watch - Dermot Gallagher

Main headline on sky sports app.
'Ref Watch: Clear foul in Palace vs Liverpool'

There's your show of the corruption and that's the difference in the way Liverpool are treated, plain as day there, sticking up for the Scousers and pointing it out in that headline.
Bloody stinks to high heaven.

Why don't sky sports news just have this as their background as they can't make it any more obvious who they favour.

This is the written account of his assessment on SSN Ref Watch:

The confusion was because the assistant waited - if you watch, he actually flags for offside. So when it goes back, it was not actually a VAR overturn. Offside is offside, we say that about VAR, you look at the lines. It is what we asked for and it is difficult to beat up a project you asked for…

He is simultaneously saying it wasn’t a VAR review (rubbish) and that VAR means “offside is offside” in this case (mind boggling contradiction), before saying you shouldn’t question *the* system they developed when everyone demanded *a* system (also unmitigated rubbish).

To me that alludes to the fact that PGMOL reluctantly implemented VAR, likely because they both didn’t want more scrutiny on their members and knew it was going to make it more difficult to covertly manipulate matches (either based on direct corruption or via instruction from the league), but there was too much pressure for it from too many directions.

So, to mitigate those two major concerns, they have implemented it in the way that allows for the most manipulation of assessment outcomes and least transparency possible given the current level of scrutiny.

And he is now saying the equivalent of “you wanted a video review system, so we gave you a video review system — hope you like it, ****s.” It’s similar to citizens demanding elections from a dictator and that dictator then giving them elections where everyone has to vote for the dictator (and if they don’t their vote is changed and they are publicly called out or worse).

Mark Halsey is practically a saint in my eyes after he played five minutes of injury time on 30/5/99.

Where the fuck he found that much from, I'll never know.
Yes and Gillingham wanted the match replayed because he was drinking with City fans in his hotel after the game.
