Quite right, were are fault for filling the grounds every week, buying stuff from the shop, subscriptions to TV stations. Spanish players receive more money in La Liga nowadays than the Premier League but it hasn't stopped them being the best team in the world (barring the odd freak result in 40-odd games).

To be completely fair to the players they only started wanting payments for England appearances after the FA started raking in sponsorship and TV money for "Team England". The players not unreasonably felt that most of that money was being raised on the back of their appearances for England and that they should share in that.
