I've just had a feedback phone call from SKY to ask why I cancelled my complete subscription. The wiser amongst you will probably know why I took this decision but I thought the chap on the phone was quite pleasant and polite and wanted to see what the answers would be to some of my concerns.
Firstly, I told him that I felt SKY take loyal customers for granted. They will bend over backwards to help new customers or people who decide to cancel but never reward long standing customers for their loyalty.
Then, I said that the fact I have to pay for a subscription for HD telly grates on me. I already pay for SKY and I see it as a broadcasters obligation to provide the best picture quality possible without the need for extra money. If ITV and BBC can do it for free, why can't SKY? He said he understood this view and didn't really have an answer.
I told him I enjoyed using the SKY plus facility and would probably miss it but am not prepared to pay top whack for it any longer whilst my subscription goes up and I receive nothing in return.
He then asked if there was anything he could do to make me reconsider. I told him that if I saw an announcement on the news at ten that David Beckham's SKY contract had been terminated and the money saved shared amongst SKY customers, I'd consider re-subscribing tomorrow. He laughed and said he'd email all my points to his superiors but said if they took Beckham off the adverts for me, a lot of angry women might begin looking for me.
How does anyone feel about the HD business and the fact that subscription prices continue to rise?
