I'm fully aware everyone on here as long as they fall inside the coc can essentially post/do as they please but, is it when members post hardly anything for years and then are in a particular thread normally not a groundbreaking one, making more posts in a few hours than they have in years?

There's at least 2 examples going on at the moment.

What, like spy's? I joined years ago but had about a year sabbatical until recently because I was basically too busy. There is a lot of false blues out there though, soon as I realise, I block the buggers!
 
I know what you mean but there are probably reasons for it. For instance, I usually read SSC (and have for years) but don't contribute to it but I was sick of having to navigate to the latest posts so decided to create an account (once logged in you can go straight to the first unanswered post like on here). Lo and behold I already had one from around 2015 which I didn't remember setting up so just reset the password. Now it looks like I've made 8 posts in 8 years on there. I suppose with everyone settling on their single email address (usually Gmail) rather than the old days where the address was sometimes lost when changing internet provider it happens more often now?
