Slow internet

We've had Orange as internet providers for years and had no trouble whatsoever until lately. We used to have a Liveboox that both me and my brother connected to with our laptops with WiFi, and it worked fine. Fast and never any issues. Just before Christmas Orange decided to disable the livebox and send out a new Netgear router. It took a few attempts to connect with a WiFi signal but eventually got there. After a few days the signal strength got worse and the internet got slower until I was unable to actually connect. So I installed it again and the internet and WiFi signal was good. Unfortunately the same thing has happened again. After a few days of good eprformance it has gone really slow and even to the point of not loading up webpages and giving up.

Any tips?
 
I think I may have less technological ability than yourself! I've done that and moved the router, albeit not very far, and it's working okay. This may be its good 5 minutes for the day though. Maybe having the routher right next to a cordless phone may hamper its performance?

My dad can sort that problem out.
