I'm glad I read your post, as the bit I've highlighted in bold is exactly what I was thinking. Where in God's name would he fit in with Silva and Nasri. Also, I though Nasri was blending in quite well by the end of the season, so there's a lot more to come from those two, and I'm certainly more excited by that than in signing Sneijder.

Edit: Oh, and he's 27.
Rotate with Barry, who can't have more than one season left, can he?
Yep, but would Sneijder be happy in Barry's role? Maybe I don't know enough about him, but from what I've been reading I thought he was more in the Silva/Nasri role? I agree that Barry can't have more than 2 good season's left in him, but if Sneijder did fit into this role, I can't really see him being happy with rotating with Barry.
But he could, in theory, rotate with Barry, Yaya, narsi for 3 positions then.

Mancini keeps saying he wants to strengthen the squad. Signing Wesser would do as such.

I don't think anyone could argue with the fact that Sneijder would strengthen the squad - the bloke is quality. I'm sure someone will come on and question his 'celebrity' status, and his missus. Has anyone started saying that him and Balotelli in the dressing room will cause problems? If not, then I'm sure it'll start soon enough. Mind you, is all this just the journalists being lazy and linking us with anyone in Europe?

Good God, it's the one signing, apart from Ronaldo that would really, really piss the Rags right off.

we already have nasri, silva, toure, barry and de jong why do we need him

You list 5 players playing in 4 positions. One of whom is close to 32 and another with just a year left on his contract, during which time negotiations have broken down.

Do you really need to ask the question?

He's a money man. Already earns more than any of our current squad.

Why we went for Nasri last summer.
so after the intial excitement of quick superstar deals it sounds like we`re not after anyone interesting then tolm??

I do think we need a deep lying midfielder 'regista' and sneijder is certainly an option but my only gripe with this is if we do get him or someone like modric to play this holding role we might get overrun in the midfield as they are not the strongest defensively and with us playing a front 4 it will be down to Yaya + another in this case sneijder, is he good defensively to this job.
We definitely need another midfielder though as I do think barry is a bit out of his depth in europe and he is getting older, we have been linked M'villa he is a much stronger player than sneijder or modric but im not sure whether he in the same level of creativeness as what we don't need is another defensive midfielder we already have de jong and to an certain extent barry.

He is a year older than silva.

I think his wage demands are too high, which is probably why inter want rid.

So each player is going to stay fit all season in what we hope to be at least a 50, 55 game season? He'd play in a 3 with Nasri and Silva should the rumours be true. He's more direct than those two which is something that we need.

His age doesn't fit the model for 'the project' - minimal re-sale value;

He's injury prone;

He wants too much ding;

He's been **** since the World Cup.

That's why Bert bought Nasri instead.

Have you watched City play this season? he is our most consistant player.

he is clearly an upgrade over what we have but not sure he is worth the hassle or the wages he would demand and as others have pointed out he seems to be injury prone

undecided but a probable steer clear

Indeed. But at the same time he was very poor in the Champions League and eventually benched, it was his mistake that led to Napoli's counterattack and goal against us. Lescott was also not as good in the Champions League. Barry was caught out more against European teams than he is domestically. The Premier League and Champions League are two different animals and some players don't suit it, or some might suit it more than the Premier League (Veron - a dud in the PL for United, classy in the CL for them).
