So playing the weakened team against Utd worked out

It was absolutely the right decision.

If the rags manager had an ounce of sense, he'd have done the same thing.

But he was/is desperate and we're not. He got his Pyrrhic victory.

Well you won't score any points against me because I am still angry that we played a weakened team against them, because I've gone too many years being tormented by their fans and I will NEVER, EVER, EVER, agree that any competition where we are playing against them we should play a weakened side, I don't care who we are playing in the next matches. We have enough great players these days to field a 'second' team good enough to beat them. Name the youngsters on the bench, get in there first half and score a few goals, Chelsea proved it can be done, and then put the youngsters on second half. That will always be my opinion, humble or not humble, my opinion to which I am entitled and will go to my grave repeating!!!! :-)

I know what you mean Eccles I really do, as part of the 'lost generation' who thought I'd never get to see us win anything (I was 2 in 76) I want us to win everything, every game, even more so against that mob, but even I concede the league cup is a distant forth in our priorities this season, so understood Pep's thinking. Watching them celebrate like they'd just won the league gave me a little warm glow inside I have to admit, how the mighty have fallen, celebrating like that against ickle City's (or Citeh as the cockney rags call us) reserves.

My point was merely there is no need for a thread trying to act like a smart arse after the event, hindsight is a great thing and had we lost last night, there is no way this thread would exist, or it might do but just be the polar opposite, its pointless point scoring against other posters IMO.
