All week United have been faced with accusations that they're "abandoning their philosophy" of raising youth players into first team regulars. This despite naming a homegrown player in 3,075 consecutive Premier League squads and having 5 (Evans, Blackett, Rooney, Januzaj and Luke Shaw) in the squad this Sunday.

This would be evidence of the "agenda" had we been on the receiving end of such questions and you all know it.
The fact that the philosophy is presumed, without question, to exist in the first place is evidence enough of media bias.
They've named at least one homegrown player in every squad for more than a decade.

I think that's fair play, to be honest.

As has been pointed out before - myth.

You mean Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, Rooney, Owen and Smalling aren't English?

Paying around £140 million for them means no, they are not homegrown.

I didn't know money could change someone's homegrown status.

We spent £100m+ on Lescott, Barry, Milner, Clichy, Wright-Phillips, Rodwell and Sinclair.

I guess they're not English either.

I didn't know money could change someone's nationality.
You seem to be strugging with the difference between someone being English and someone being from the rag academy, unless all english people are by default, rag academy graduates?

Home grown means United produced them. Buying them means they did not. Don't try and pretend that you meant home grown by any club in the country, because that's bollocks. You meant that United had produced a player in every squad in the last decade. It's a myth they repeat constantly.

And you seem to be struggling with understanding that "homegrown" is any player from any country who has trained in England for at least three years before their professional debut.

Er, no, I didn't mean that at all.

Like I said, we've spent a hefty amount of money on players that add up to our homegrown quota so why should United be banned from this particular process?

That's only by the CL "homegrown" definition. The stat is supposed to be about how they've had someone from their academy in so many consecutive squads, as having anyone english in your squad is not exactly an achievement, I imagine most teams in england would have managed to have at least one english grown player in their squad.

Yes you did. Because if you didn't, then it's totally meaningless. Because I would bet pretty much any club has done that one way or the other, just by having an English player in the squad. You got caught repeating a rag myth and now you're trying to wriggle out of it. United fans make that statement with specific reference to players they have PRODUCED not bought. And you damn well know it.
