Normally I'm not one for 'cliques' and stuff on here but it seems ridiculous that the vast majority of people slagging TH off seems to be people that have either joined recently or don't post. Why is that? Regular posters appreciate TH as a poster and as an ITK and also appreciate 1- his job is in danger if he gives out too much information and 2- that the information he gets can change at any given time and therefor he isn't always going to be right (or more likely won't always come off).

do we close the transfer forum? i mean why have it if a poster (any poster) is going to get abuse for posting his rumour. do we wait till the 4pm press conference before we post on here that we are signing xyz player. seems pretty fucking dim that to me.

it's a transfer RUMOUR GOSSIP AND SPECULATION forum. thats what its here for, if you dont believe a post or poster why not just stay out of it and let the others enjoy the gossip and news no matter how far fetched or how its presented.

Personally I prefer the induvidual threads to "It's all quiet" the only bit of fun was the cryptic clue analysis which usually led to every one being anybody we'd like to play for us.

This post is typical of the shit that drags the Transfer Forum down. I don't go on it very much for this reason, unless I need ot mod something. If I see a thread I have no interest in then I don't bother with it, simple as that. I don't go on and mock & revile the posters who are interested in it and hate it, both as a mod and an ordinary poster, when people do.

People no doubt post crap on here but also many post in good faith. I know, for an incontrovertible fact, that we have seriously been trying to get RVP for some time and thought we had an agreement-in-principle with him (as happened with Mouriho as well incidentally).

Some of you think it's all so simple but the world of football transfers is a murky one and transfer rumours don't come to fruition for all sorts of reasons. Agents play games and get deals out of potential buyers then tout their clients around the market to get a better offer. Players may say yes to a move in principle but baulk when it comes times to actually do it. Or we agree the outline of a deal with either the selling club or the agent then can't agree the other side.

Agents aren't necessarily the most honest and ethical people around either so you can bet your bottom dollar that if Sinclair's agent is talking to us, he's talking to others as well. Agents set up deals for players they don't even represent. Read Tom Bower's book "Broken Dreams" to see how some of these leeches operate. Some will plant stories that their client is talking to x as will rival managers to unsettle the player or club.

So it may be that we are seriously talking to Scott Sinclair but that in no way means we will end up signing him.

That's spot on PB, and I'm sure that's how it all works in reality.

But I get the feeling that what grinds of the gears of some on here is the "done deal" posts, when they are clearly not "done deals".

Like you say, things change, and can change quickly. Then maybe the posters need to use a bit of common sense and suggest a deal rather than setting themselves up for a fall by predicting it's done when it's not.

This summer's transfer forum has been particularly guilty of that.
