So why suddenly do they talk about Aguero leaving?

Heard Neil Ashton on Sunday Supplement say that the article in The Sun was by Ken Lawrence. If that's true, and it's the same Ken Lawrence who used to cover Man U for the Mirror, then I'd be amazed if there was any substance in it. The guy was clueless when his career peaked about 25 years ago, so I can't see anyone even knowing who he is these days let alone feed him an exclusive story.

Guardiola, asked if Agüero would still be at City next season, said: “At the end of the season I don’t know. I know how difficult it is to find top goalscorers. I would like him to stay but I don’t know what is going to happen. Even in my career I didn’t know what would happen at the end of the season. I was clear every time we spoke with Sergio from the beginning. I know his strengths.”

Stern words.

It would be almost stupid for City to let Aguero go especially when for years the club struggled because we had just one good striker and suffered when Aguero got injured. Pep needs to manage the team to accommodate both in starting line-up. On one hand Pep talks about aspirations of getting to Barcelona level while on the other he cannot find place for two top level strikers. How would he have managed Barcelona of today, put one or two of Messi, Neymar and Suarez on the bench.

Pep freezing out Aguero makes me sad. I know he has reasons and he may be doing the right thing. But still..

We need a motivated Aguero this season. GAby J is young, his confidence is sky high after a great start. I genuinely think we have a superstar in the making. That said, there will be an inevitable dip in his scoring and just like any 19 year old his confidence will dip as well. He is not ready to be the main man for City yet. I hope Guardiola factors that and continues to give game time to Aguero and keep him fit, engaged and motivated

Sane-Jesus-Sterling isn't so far away from MSN, with the key difference being Suarez is a natural centre forward.

Pep doesn't like strikers, they don't work so well with his system. At Barca, arguably the best Barcelona team in history, he played with zero strikers and stuck Messi as a fake number 9 which seems to be what he's aiming for with Jesus.

At Bayern, he accommodated Lewadowski and I have no doubt he can and would do the same for Aguero. The thing is though, Kun hasn't been playing well this season and his current run of form particularly makes him a less reliable option. Further, it isn't clear that Sergio has adapted to Pep's style (he runs less, gives away possession frequently etc) and it's hard to justify including him over another of our front three who have genuinely clicked.

It's obvious Aguero will come around again, he's the best striker in the league by a measure. I have no doubt the club, and Pep, consider him irreplaceable and will make every effort to keep him in the summer. The only questions are if he himself wants to remain, is willing to try harder to fit in Guardiola's system and can accept results are paramount therefore automatic inclusion isn't ensured.

From the same presser the Daily telegraph have spun this fantasy headline.....

Pep Guardiola praises 'special' talent Jack Wilshere in hint at possible Man City transfer

They say it's part and parcel of the game, but it does get annoying after a while.

We've had Costa, Hazard and Courtois "rumoured to be leaving" every summer since they got here. It never seems to stop and they never seem to leave.

how Sterling is in the team ahead of Sergio makes me sick! We cant put all our eggs in one basket i.e 19yr old GJ. We need depth, world class depth. If Sergio leaves I'll be gutted!
