It's been discussed in various threads but can any bluemooners offer their experiences
Here's a number of questions and feel free to add any others

How much did they cost?
Did you lease or buy them?
How much % wise have they reduced your electricity consumption from a utility company by?
Has anyone sold a house with solar panels installed and had any problems selling?

Definitely following this looks like the cost and recoup time us very low now, done saying down from 15-20 years to about 6

Why is there no bigging up of wind energy? Especially in this country
Wind energy is fantastic on an industrial scale. Not much cop though for domesticated use.
It's a lot easier for people to contemplate sticking sticking solar panels up on their roof and it is also a lot easier to do.

From an industrial perspective though, we should be building vast wind farms off our coasts.

$16k for 12kw system, 30 panels. Bought. Save around $400 a month on average. Around here, solar panels are a big plus for resale because everyone moving here from California expects them.

You can get the low noise one now and how much energy you get from solar in the summer in this country?
See this here never seen anything like it before!

TESUP 5 KW and Max. 120 kWh/day AtlasX Vertical Wind Turbine (Made in Europe) https://amzn.eu/d/gig0uRZ

There is vertical ones all over. We had one when I was at MMU. You did not get much out of it really, in the centre of Manchester.

I did my dissertation on Solar and used about 10 years worth of irradiance data for central Manchester, to do my model. Due to the costs at the time, they were not cost effective. But that has changed now.
The technology of solar is evolving. There are thin film ones now ones with perovskite added, to make them more efficient. In years to come the roof of your car will be made from them.

We lived solely off solar panels, photo voltaic into 12 x 1.5 volt deep cycle batteries, imagine submarine batteries full of lovely lead and sulphuric acid....... no mains electric but back up generator just in case, for 7 years in Catalonia. Granted we averaged 300 days of decent sunshine, something you wont get here, we could even produce electricity on a full moon. We powered a house with all the usual mod cons. It does need maintenance if you're charging batteries but would imagine if you're feeding into the grid that expence would be nullified. I wouldn't imagine you could lease them and they are fairly maintenace free, just clean them twice a year like windows. I cant remember the cost but they weren't cheap, however with more people having them prices would have come down unless the raw materials have gone up since.
Going slightly off on a tangent, I know of a local farmer who used government grants to build a hydro electric set up on a piece of land he owns with a stream running through it. He doesn't use the electricity himself he just feeds it back into the grid, sits back, waits for his cheques and is coining it in by all accounts.
