Something to complain about

I am actually very impressed with the air fryer, I just think my lovely wife didn’t do a great job in cooking my tea. She’s got a lot on her mind at the moment so I am not going to give her a hard time about it.
I'm resisting buying an air fryer because everyone I know has bought one and keeps raving about them.
The woman next door said "We bought the $60 one from KMart and it's just as good as my daughters $220 one (kill me now)..
I'm sick of hearing about them tbh. So much so I hate the fucking things. I refuse to have one of the little bastards in the house.

They're like electric cars mate. Only cunts have them.

If you eat chips/ fries and chicken (fried) as your main diet then jobs a good 'un...still cheaper to use the microwave.

Funny you mention it, last week I got a discount code for the Samsung website. Needed to replace my bedroom telly, so nipped on their site and got me 20% off a QLED 32” bargain for £300.

3 days later it arrives I immediately thought to put it on the wall, took the old one down got my big bag of tv bracket leftovers out (true) and as per the instructions dug out a 20mm m4 set of machine screws.

bear with me, this is the good bit - went to practice screw one in, fell straight in flush with the back case! Looked with a torch and no threads in any of the holes!

Tried an m5 same, m6 didn’t fit the hole. Got onto the Samsung online chat, told them what happened and they said I’d need a set of 19-22mm m4 screws - despite me just saying they never touched the sides. So I say it must be faulty I’ll send it back. Rather than get a replacement and wait another week for return and dispatch I went for a refund and went to curry’s.

Previously I had bought a real cheap Toshiba which seemed ok, when I got there asked directly for another, as they had one in stock, but they couldn’t find it, assumed stolen. Showed me what they did have namely a Sony at 350 or a JVC for 139 said I wanted full HD, was assured the JVC was so went for it.

It’s not full HD but it does have threads in the VESA holes - coincidentally 20mm m4, which i had a set handy. Slapped it up and tuned it in the picture looked as if you wear specs and some joker licked the lenses - thought my eyes had gone! I swear it was reasonable in the shop.

So suffered for 2 days, then day 3 realised I was on BBC SD, changed to HD but not any better. As Huw had mysteriously disappeared I decided to switch to sky news, that was worse still, so tried to change back but remote had become unresponsive. Had enough by now, but remotes’ power button decided to identify as a mute button so couldn’t turn it off. Straight off the wall and back to curry’s for a refund.

Can’t get any worse so saw Argos were selling a Samsung T5300 full HD 32” for £200, so got that. Unpacked instructions say 19-22mm m4 screw to mount, went to put it in dropped straight through! Fucking cat was lucky it left the room when I started (bastard knew).

Suddenly, the spidey senses tingled. What’s the chances of two batches of separate models being faulty with the same issue? The VESA holes on this one were a bit bigger (bet it would take an m6) had googled previously and got nothing but torch down the hole (fnarr) and at the bottom of the 25mm deep hole I could just see a small nut.

Process of elimination gave me a 45mm m3 screw reaches that nut and screws in (could have been m4, lost the will to live by this point) managed to mount it and hooray! Lovely picture.

Shame about the cheap QLED I could have used if Samsung support knew what they were talking about, but suppose I shouldn’t complain really…

:)

Nah...never eat chips at home, only from the chippy. I like cooking but I tend to stir fry stuff. I like making Thai, Indian, Italian Pasta meals. Wife makes the best Shepherds Pie :)

So, erm, what happened in the end...

Was it the length of screw or thread diameter you were having an issue with?
Bit of both I didn’t think to go down a size and up a length or two on the QLED, live and learn eh?

Also, I skipped the debacle of the Samsung return as it was a long post, but since you ask - on the first bot chat they arranged collection and immediately I had a text saying that dpd would send Iulian to collect next day.

Around 11am slight tap on the door dogs go barking, I’m on a teams meeting - “ooh sorry about the dogs, must be someone at door back in a mo” head downstairs go to the door, nobody there. Shout ‘hello!’ And my mate Iulian comes back and says “sorry, thought nobody was home so I’ve cancelled the collection” basically said he couldn’t take it now as he’d cancelled it, but hopefully he’d be able to sort it and return later. I pointed out the Ring doorbell and said use that and I’ll know you’re here.

I correctly assumed anyone who couldn’t spell Julian wouldn’t be back later, so got back onto the online chat and explained what happened and they arranged a new pickup. As it was last Friday the near immediate text told me Costin would be here Monday.

Monday came, around 12 the doorbell goes off 3 times, I run to meet Costin for the first time to find Iulian at the door, a bit sheepish saying “they wouldn’t let him come back” on Friday.

Either way I’m happy as I don’t get a refund until Samsung get a telly back so tell him not to worry!

As luck would have it the refund from curry’s came in yesterday and the Samsung one today so maybe I’ll copy and paste all this over to the other thread ;)
