I always thought this verse from The Band's song "Up On Cripple Creek" had a peculiar line.

Now there's one thing in the whole wide world
I sure would like to see
That's when that little love of mine
Dips her doughnut in my tea (he he)

That last line always left me wondering. For years I thought it was "dipped her donut in my teeth." So I was like... that's pretty brazen. Esp.since he's shouts about how yodelling later in the song. But I later figured out the correct lyrics and as if that ever left any doubts. It's a rewrite of a folk song that Buffy St. Marie performed about a young guy bragging about getting laid. Talk about a perfect song for Levon Helm! He was born to sing stuff like that.

I always thought it was 'cause I speak of the properties of love.'
Makes sense, though if that weird word is the official lyric, I would imagine the origins lie in someone having originally written it down wrong on an album design/etc. (as they just couldn't figure it out) and it just got left there.

Of course, it could also be 'the Pompidous of love' - a reference to institutions of the like of the vast French arts centre and library, which I'm sure famed coquet Maurice would have consulted frequently,
...had...he been alive at the time of its construction...
