I've never gotten Bruce Springsteen. I either find him trying to hard or his band sounding like an out of control juke box. But when he did ditch the E Street Band and just lay down a bare bones album on the futility of love and relationships, well the resulting Tunnel Of Love is as powerful as Dylan's Blood On The Tracks. I also liked the way "The Boss" kissed off all the people still dancing to Born In The USA. The ultimate FU to Reagan era teens who thought he would continue making commercial jingles. Life's fucked up.... even for rock stars.
