Can I take it that Metallica are a popular beat combo, if so are they Blues, am I missing something?

At their finest, Metallica are - <a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU_ggFovJNo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU_ggFovJNo</a>

At their worst, Metallica are - <a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovBNnm4EqRE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovBNnm4EqRE</a>

Ah yes that makes it much clearer. Remind me again, which tune was the finest and which the worst?

Nice report Liam, it says something when you've got to come on a football site to get a review of a major festival in this country, anyone would think Metal is a minority genre ;-)

Have to admit I enjoyed seeing Metallica on their latest tour, maybe it was down to sentimental reasons as they were never was gonna be as good as when I first saw them with Cliff back in the days of the 'Master of Puppets' tour and only weeks before he was tragically killed. I agree with most of what you've said about them but at least they've kind of admitted if not without publicly saying so that with their latest album they've took it back to something more akin to their beginings.

Would be cool if Alice in Chains were to put on a UK tour.

It would be nice to hear the song again but it aint AIC without Layne.

I did have a wtf moment at this earlier:

Interesting stuff....I kinda get Elton's earlier work especially 'Madman Across the Water' with the amazing 'Tiny Dancer' and 'Honkey Chateau' with the equally brilliant 'Mona Lisa and Mad Hatters'. Maybe he can put the same kind of feeling into this and make it work.

Now seeing Layne with Mad Season would have been something really special, such a sad waste we never got the chance.
