If that's true then it's unthinkable a club of their 'size & stature' would ever let that happen. Is he just an ex-player that goes into the dressing room and spouts cliches about the United way and the class of 99, in the hope that it inspires the squad?
Ferguson got away with a similar approach thanks to having the weight of a trophy laden history behind him and, in a lot of his career, working in a different era.
This idiot, blinded by his adherence to what he foolishly sees as "the way we won," thinks that the same methods will fly for a clueless novice who is trying to take on the greatest of the modern era.
To top it off, he delegates the coaching to, wait for it, the tactical genius of Mike Phelan and Michael Carrick.
The levels of stupidity required to think that this would produce a team capable of challenging teams competing on a level playing field defy belief.
Add in the fact that there is no coherent recruitment plan and most of the senior staff on the football side are similarly inexperienced and unsuitable for such positions at a top club and you can see that the football side of the club has been unbelievably mismanaged by people who rely on methods from 20 years ago when they had huge structural advantages over their competition.
Anyway, keep him at the wheel.
