#sophiefromromania

We adopted a puppy from Romania. A black heinze 57 type. Lovely thing is Kip. Short for Kippax. Our other puppy who we bought from a breeder and he died from severe illnesses. Never get a dog from a breeder again.

I mean, English dogs for English sofas, for sure. Be careful tho, not all (so called) "English" Setters are from England. Some are manufactured on the cheap in Europe. You can tell from the tail. The continental Setter tail wags anti-clockwise. Genuine English Setter is left to right - clockwise - in honour of Lord Sir Admiral Nelson, the centre point lining up exactly with the Grenwich Meridian at noon on the King's Birthday.

Don’t think dogs really have a nationality tbh.

Tell a German Shepherd that! ;-)

On a serious note, the suffering animals we consider as cherished pets here in the UK throughout the world is horrific and anything that can be done by anyone to help any animal suffering is a good thing.

To take them abroad you have to get a Pet Passport (it’s more of an health certificate than a passport but some people get them made into passports like human ones) with the country of origin/residence on.

So they kind of do have a nationality, or can anyway.

I have been following Sophie’s progress. Some strange comments in this thread, not just about dogs . Sometimes people rescue animals to help rescue themselves. This is our beautiful boy Clyde. He was rescued with his sister Bonnie from Crete. Both left in a sealed cement bag and dumped in a dry river bed to die. Bonnie is on a farm in Cumbria. When it comes to our dogs, we all think they are special, but to me this fella is very special. First pic when we got him. Second all grown up…. Third with our spaniel Ossie.
