I think this "general knocking of men" is slowing down a bit, I've noticed not every advert on TV has that "dumb male" character next to the "ultra bright" female character anymore

Didn't notice that about adverts. I do notice in dramas though. I don't mind that the heroes are now always women or ethnic minorities, but it seems like always the idiot/protagonists/rapist/fool is a middle aged white man.

I don't see equality tbh.

I'll chuck myself out here and get called woke for it or whatever, and I don't think it's a big deal, but I do wonder if it'd hurt to update gendered language around how we talk about physicality in the game. Lots of girls and women will have heard this stuff their whole lives, in much patronising ways that Souness used, and I don't think it hurts to acknowledge their responses. And I also don't think it's unrelated that a load of responses to women complaining have basically amounted to "and the women's game is shite", with much worse on Twitter. Despite what some on here think, Souness strikes me as quite a thoughtful bloke who will think about it and adapt as needed.

Are you saying that the girls and women's game is remotely at the same level as the boys, or men's game?

A man approaching 70 uses a turn of phrase that he's used his entire life with zero problems until now. People just fucking love to find offence where none is intended. We all know he means it's a physical game that can get heated, anybody with an interest in football knows what that means even if the literal wording suggests something else. nobody of sound mind would take that to mean he's suggesting women shouldn't play or anything else similar to that take.

I hope he hasn't and doesn't apologise, that just panders to these fuckers who take offence and make a meal out of everything and encourages more, he's done nothing wrong.
